Hello, so sorry if this is in the wrong place.

I have lots of old kilner jars with the glass snap on lids but the rubber gasket bits are getting quite old and worn. Does anyone know where I can get replacements or can I use something to approximate the seal?

    thanks very much!

  • I posted this yesterday on the massive yoghurt thread, but it seems to have got lost of the bottom of the first page, so I thought I'd try again here...

    Hi,

This thread is a fantastic resource for making yoghurt! I am now half-way through my third batch of the delicious stuff, and am taking some to work with me every day.

However, despite keeping it in a cool bag with ice blocks, it always ends up much runnier than when I left home. It could be due to the fact that I have a 1.5 mile walk to get to work, and it might be that it's joggling too much in my bag, although I have tried to minimise this.

I wondered if any of you yoghurt gurus (yo-guru?;)) might know of a solution?

    Thanks in advance,

    Fubrite
  • I made honey roasted parsnips this morning - can I freeze portions to defrost, reheat and eat later in the week or would they funny? x

I have today bought (from a charity shop) a small metal flask made by EMSA. On the top of the inner lid it has a red button that makes a slight "popping" noise when you press it. Does anyone know what this is for? It has nothing to do with pouring as you have to take the lid off completely in order the pour the liquid out. Any suggestions much appreciated.

Sorry for previous post-just worked out that it allows the liquid to pour out without taking lid off...doh!

It's probably a preassure release valve to release steam before you take the top off, stops you scalding yourself.

My Pyrex dish isn't clean and I want to microwave some potatoes for jackets (finish off in oven)

Do they need a plate and a lid?
