Just to add to what zippy has posted, the chives are fine to use in potato salad and the flowers are delicious and really liven up a green salad.

Sadly, they're not. I think they're a bit (lot!) on the old side - hard and fibrous.

Oh dear, thankfully my chives are still fine to use. Your idea of radishes as a substitute sounds good.I might give that a go when mine are finally ready. The rotten weather this month hasn't helped mine to grow.

I pinched the pot of chives from my dad about a fortnight ago. They're probably years old. :rotfl:
