I reckon you'll take the lid off and find a solid pot of penicillin. But if we don't hear, we'll fear the worst. :rotfl:
If I had to bet I'd say it will be ok. I'll find out tomorrow morning.
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Hi sashanut,
I normally cook the hock in water then use the stock to make lentil soup as pea soup isn't one of my favourites, but these threads should help:
ham hock and pig hock bargain food!

I'm doing a ham hock tomorrow, bought in farmfoods for £1.50. I cook mine in my slow cooker with either a packet of split peas or marrowfat peas soaked overnight and also add a large chopped onion. Either is good with mashed potatoes or with crusty bread. If I have other veg that need using up such as carrot/swede/parsnips I will add those in too. Season with black pepper but no salt as the hock is usually quite salty.Hi all :j
I wonder if anyone can help me with a recipe for a ham hock + split pea soup please? I have the hock & half a pkt of split peas, plus other stock cupboard items - thought there was a recipe on the back but no joy  Tks if you can help:D
I used to do the same dish years ago, when my children were all at home and I was a stay at home mum, in the pressure cooker. The result was much the same.0 -

Hi quintwins,
I usually make it with condensed milk. There are lots of recipes in this thread that may help: Recipe for fudge

If you have powdered milk, just make your own. Honestly, you will never buy condensed milk again!
1 cup powdered milk
2/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup boiling water
3 tbsp marg/ butter
Whisk with electric whisk for 3 minutes until thick and creamy.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...
