I've always found part baked bread pretty inedible a few hours after baking - maybe it depends on the brand? I find wrapping them in a tea towel as soon as they come out of the oven keeps them softer, otherwise they become rock hard very quickly.

If you want to save money I'd just buy ordinary rolls and freeze them rather than using part baked bread. We keep some in the freezer though, usually for lazy sunday brunches!

my OH loves the part baked baguettes. But I find that they are inedible the next day. but the good thing is they dont take long to bake! you can have freshly baked bread in twenty minutes - and that includes warm up time for the oven. you can then wrap them in foil and take the filling in a a tupperware box! OR - bake them and freeze them - you can split them while frozen and fill them and in a couple of hours they are defrosted and taste almost as good as fresh baked!

I keep a few in stock as they don't take up valuable freezer space and were handy recently with home made soup when we were snowed in. 'Better than nowt' !

I'd think they'd be fine in soup.
