I have been given a set of Viners Minster 5pc pans as a Christmas present, bought from Studio. However, the lids do not seem to fit properly.

I'm used to Wilko's own brand stuff, and may just be missing something here but it seems like there is about 3 mm difference between the pot and the lid and they all noticably move around under my hands (the biggest pot being the worst offender).

    Are they meant to??

Hi, I've just been to look at mines, I have three, two from Asda and these are not a tight fit.

But I have another smaller one, which has strain holes in the side of the lid, so you don't have to use a colender. This one is very tight, I can turn the saucepan upside down, with holding the lid on. I guess this is so tight though due to the strainer.

They are meant to be slightly loose, to allow steam out - otherwise they would blow up!

  • The lids on my Viners pans don't fit snuggly either.

They should either have a bit of wiggle room or have a small vent hole in the lid, to stop pressure building up and the lid blowing off in your face. Also if a lid fits tightly and the contents of the pan cool down you can get a vacumn forming which makes it difficult to get the lid off.

If you do want a good tight seal, for instance if making rice by the absorbtion method, put a sheet of foil over the pan and scrunch the lid down on top. The lid won't blow off this way so you're quite safe.

  • No, not a rude thread really-we seem to have somehow, insanely, lost/thrown away the drawers for our upright freezer(during garage cleanout perhaps).
Would it be possible, do you think, to buy plastic boxes that would fit instead, as the drawers are very expensive to replace. grateful for your ideas.
