It was a bit salty despite me boiling the bacon first, but the cream has made it much nicer. 0 -

There's a quick and easy one on the slow cooker recipe page, just omit the meat and add veg of your choice, cut fairly small and leave for a good 8-10 hours

Hiya,
We are starting to save jars for pickling/chutneys next year. Mayo jars at the moment.
I have no problems with the chutney or sterilising of the jars.
However, at the moment they are washed out in hot soppy water and left to dry, but they are continuing to smell of vinegar - (mayo jars).
So I was wondering, would it work if I filled them with hot water and a squirt of lemon juice to take the vinegar smell away?
Or what would you do?
I don't want the smell to eventually spoil whatever I put in there, that said its very likely to be savoury anyway, as we don't buy jam/marmalade.0 -
It couldn't hurt to do that, or maybe if you just left them standing unlidded and open until you are going to sterilise them ready for use, so that they can air out?0
