FelinePrincess wrote: »Hi,
Hoping someone can give me some advise what size casserole dish I should buy? It's only my and my partner but when cooking I tend to cook extra (usually enough for 4) and use leftovers next day or freeze so I would like it big enough to continue doing that. Any thoughts?
Thanks!
There are only two of us and i`ve got these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pyrex-Piece-Round-Casserole-Casseroles/dp/B000TAUPXI/ref=sr_1_1/275-2291534-5451155?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen&qid=1285588832&sr=8-1
I`ve had them for over twemty years and can`t fault them, they were recently on offer but the current price is still a bargain.

The ones in that link Mardatha use porridge oats rather than oatmeal. If you want to make ones like Nairns, use this recipe:
4oz medium oatmeal
1/2 tsp salt
Bicarb
1 level tsp bacon fat or dripping
Boiling water
Mix the oatmeal, salt and a pinch of bicarb. Melt the fat with 1 tbsp water and pour into the centre of the dry ingredients. Mix to a soft consistancy adding boiling water as required.
Turn out onto a floured board, knead lightly and roll out thinly. Cut with a round pastry cutter and either place on a floured baking sheet and bake in a moderately hot oven (gas 6) until they're crisp, or cook on a hot girdle until the edges curl then toast in the oven until lightly browned.
I used Trex for the fat as I don't eat meat and that worked just as well. I also found that as I don't use a lot of salt in my cooking, I thought they tasted a bit too salty, but hubby said they tasted fine to him. He loves the Nairns ones and thought these were just like them.0 -

My mum always made em like this when we were kids, i thought people were crazy making it in big dishes/trays.

Afternoon OS peeps,
Just wondering whether anyone else has noticed that Tesco's Olive Oil is now being sold in plastic bottles instead of glass (but no reduction in price to reflect the lower cost of packaging)?
I guessed this is the place to ask, so does anyone know whether Sainsburys/ASDA are still selling it in glass?0
