Darling Daughter fancied trying soya milk, so we bought a one litre carton. Neither of us can stand it on its own or in our cups of tea. Please does anyone have any ideas how to use the stuff up, i hate waste. Thanks.

Rice pudding? You may need slightly less sugar as it can taste sweeter, from what I remember.

I would have said rice pudding too or porridge or you can use it in smoothies with bananas or any fruit really. We often throw in frozen summer fruits. You can't really taste the soya milk then.

  • I've been been baking and trying out some new recipes (see the yoghurt cake thread!) but ended up with more mixture and a lot more buns than I thought... 35 to precise!

Nice as they are, there's no way they'll all get eaten before going stale so was thinking of freezing them - can you do this successfully? They're banana yoghurt buns. And what's the best way of defrosting them, just at room temp? Or is it best to microwave them?

Sorry if this sounds daft, I'm a bit of an amateur at all this! x

Thank you zippychick but I'm gonna be really awkward (spelling??)now
Isn't there a cake or something that needs a large amount of eggs that I can hide it in???

If it look and taste like eggs my boys wont eat it.
If it is in rice my hubby wont eat it, he doesn't eat rice
The same with pasta. I cant make my own and hubby wont eat the stuff (he is chips only kind of person)
We never have dessert so meringue or custard is no point either. I could perhaps do an apple pie with custard but it still leaves me with loads of eggs.
Egg and chips is fine and for me and hubby and boiled eggs are ok with me but that is about it.

I was taught to eat what I was given but hubby is a completely different story. My boys are not too bad but I need to hide the eggs.

We are expecting more eggs to come :wall: my hubby did a favour for a neighbour and we are being paid in eggs

I'm gonna try tomorrow with pancakes again and wrap them with ice cream and HM strawberry jam fingers crossed they eat it but that is all I can think about

Yorkshire puddings? Toad in the hole? You can put all sorts of things in the hole, IMO.

Alternatively, find someone to swap eggs with - any veg growers nearby?

Just a quickie - I've never been one for bulking out mince in a big way so am not used to what constitutes the optimum proportion of "bulking agent" to mince. However I have an 800g pack of mince in the freezer and my usual recipe requires 1kg.

I have red and green lentils and I have porridge oats.

In words of one syllable please (;)) how much of any of the above bulking ingredients (and if applicable, how much extra water) would I need to add to my 800g of mince to make it up to the equivalent of 1kg?

    Thanks :)

Update: ended up chucking in a tinful of green lentils. It was delicious.

greenpixey, are they better with savoury pancakes? I've been known to stuff 'em and roll 'em with melted cheese on top if there's a glut (rare!)

Madeira cakes usually need lots of eggs...

And there's a link on that page specifically to other egg recipes which may help.
