Should I heat it up before putting it in the slow cooker? I gather from other posts that I should defrost frozen stock, but it's solid without being frozen, so not sure

Just bung it in :D It has a very low melting point, so will be liquid in the SC in no time ;)

Just a query about white wine vinegar, I noticed today when opening a new bottle that there is no BB or Use By date, which makes sense as vinegar is a preservative. However I don't use a lot mainly in one recipe (I'm so boring) and a small bottle will last me probably 2 yrs, the contents of my last bottle did start to darken in colour about three-quarters of the way down (I still used it though). I normally just keep it on the floor in the pantry which is cool but does have a window. Should I keep it in the fridge.

Have just checked and there are no storage instructions either.
Woofles you need to get out of that house. You are going insane:eek: - colinw

apologises for spelling mistakes - google toolbar and I have had a hissy fit and I've lost me spell checker.

I've got loads of small potatoes (they were reduced to 10p a bag!), any ideas what to do with them? I was thinking of cooking and freezing - has anyone tried it?

I would par boil them, cool and freeze in a single layer, then pack into freezer bags.

I just popped into the 99p shop and they had spray-bottles of vinegar - as I'd just run out I bought one and jolly good it is too. They also had stardrops in spray bottles but I'm not paying 99p for that, good Lord!

My question is to those who use these things; if I make my own Stardrops spray bottle (I usually just put a squirt in the sink, fill with hot water and dip my cloth in that) how much Stardrops and how much water should I use? I've got plenty of spray bottles which is why I didn't want to pay 99p for watered-down Stardrops when I can make my own...

Also, if I refill the vinegar bottle, what proportions of vinegar/water should I use there?

I know you all know these things but I'd never thought of using a spray before...

Thanks, Penny - that's worth knowing. I've got a load of green tomatoes on my windowsill at the moment - I'm hoping I can get most of them ripe but it's nice to know I can still eat them even if they don't quite get there.
Back after a very long break!
