Anyway if i cook the chicken then it cools then heat it up while making the pie contents, then it will be heated 3 times which is too much. So was going to cook the two chickens tomorrow together in the oven, prep the pie tomorrow night straight after so the chicken is put in warm, then leave the pie in the fridge to be eaten on Tuesday.

It makes sense to me ;) If your chickne is fresh, I'd have no worries about cooking the chicken, making the sauce with either the warm or cooled chicken, then cooking the pie when I needed it :D

    Hi,
I noticed a recipe that uses belly pork, potatoes pears roasted together in the oven. I've got some 'past their best' apples and I was going to use them.
The thing is I already have this weeks meals planned. Do you think I could cook it and then freeze? I'm assuming you can freeze just about anything?

I was actually asking about the whole recipe, but its the apples that need using up. I can freeze the belly pork so thats ok.
I already have apple in the freezer for crumble so I was thinking of doing something different...the soup sounds different, unfortunately we aren't fans of butternut squash and I was hoping to use what I had in, rather than buy more ingredients to save a few bruised apples!..lol

Still a wee bit unsure what exactly you are asking, but then I don't think I've had enough caffiene today. Are you asking if you can use apples instead of pears?

if you pre make the dish ,yes, cool it properly then freeze. Absolutely fine to do! Just make sure you defrost it properly and heat thoroughly :)

I wasn't suggesting you make the soup really, just i made it last night so wanted to tell someone how yummy it is. x

Well considering your lack of caffiene you've answered my question....that I can freeze the pre made dish if I make it today. Thanks

happy days! Yeah, i would make up batches of stews, casseroles, chilli, spag bol etc and freeze in individua,l portions, so dinner involves taking out the night before and defosting ready for the next day! Yum! Goood luck! x
