    Hi. I want to make a hot cross bun loaf in the Panasonic breadmaker. How would I substitute milk powder + water for real, semi-skimmed milk? I don't have the recipe on hand but it's 100ml water with, I think, 1/2 tsp dried milk. Also, this is only the recipe for hot cross buns. I was thinking I could just shove it on at the regular white loaf cycle. That sounds like it might work, right? I see people mentioning a hot cross bun loaf but I can't seem to find out how to actually do it.

    Hi blahn,

    To substitute milk for milk powder in a recipe just add the same volume of milk as you would water...in your case 100 mls of milk and leave out the milk powder.

    Anyone got a good hot cross bun recipe ?

    I haven't tried making hot cross buns as a loaf but if I was going to do it I would go with what you've suggested and bake it as a regular loaf.

    Or do you have the recipe for the spicy fruit loaf? That's quite hot cross bun-ish. I have the recipe from the SD253 recipe book which you can do on timed and it's absolutely delicious (used to do it overnight and you get the most delicious smell when you wake up:j). For some reason the recipe book for the SD255 has the addition of eggs and milk meaning you can't do it on timed :confused:. HTH.

    I know that either the Stardrops or the bicarb/vinegar threads would have an answer but I just want a fast (and doubtless, lazy) quickie please: my bathroom basin drainhole looks all grey and sludgy when I peer down it. (It runs fine, it's just the accumulated toothpaste and soap of many years round the edges of the pipe I'm afraid) what do I put down it to clear it and make it delightful to look at when bending over it to clean my teeth? (It doesn't smell, it just looks awful) I've tried Buster drainclear but it had no effect at all. Many thanks kind people.

    I've just bought a set of new towels, and I seem to remember reading somewhere that the best thing to do is to soak them in cold waster in the bath overnight to get rid of the 'stuff' that manufacturers put on them to make them look extra fully in the shelves - is this right? - can any of you help please?

    I would wash them before first use to get rid of the 'dressing' they put into them. They may not look as fluffy but they will be more absorbent.

    i saw a thread on here a while ago about making your own piece of wood to soak then cook meat on,on the bbq..........but i cant find the thread or remember what cooking this was is called :o
    on of the tv chefs did it recently and id like to give it a go!

    Want to make some pizza dough which is fine, but do I freeze it for topping at a later date BEFORE I cook it? Or do I need to cook it before I freeze it?
    Is there a knack for rolling it out once it's done?

    Please help - my dough is done and I have no idea what to do with it now!

    I'd freeze it after cooking (without the topping). But do you need to freeze? Its so nice to make fresh? Rolling out I use my hands (that works for me) it has a lot of 'elastic' so its pretty easy to pull into shape. Make a ball between your hands and take it from there, if you want to roll it go for it.
