I end up steaming the same vegetables every night for four days of the week on the run. It seems a pretty huge waste of time so I was just wondering if I could steam them all on monday and then keep them in the fridge...? Would they last four days? I don't see why not but I figure I should just ask as I've only done this with pasta before.0

Hi blahn,
They will certainly keep for three days if they are chilled and refrigerated immediately but I think four days might be stretching it a bit.
Saying that, I never think reheated vegetables taste as good as fresh ones. Another thing to bear in mind is the loss of vitamins through storing and cooking ( ok, reheating) twice. Personally I think it's worth the bother of steaming veg as you need them.

I actually meant three days, not sure why I said four. I didn't think of the vitamins or the taste (although they are frozen vegetables so I'm not sure if that changes anything), stupidly. I might try cook for two meals first and see how that goes. Thanks for the reply.0

Hi - I am after some words of wisdom please. DD has a recipe which I am getting the ingredients together for for school tomorrow. It's for dark ginger cake and the ecipe is:
75g treacle
20g brown sugar
75g flour
40g butter
1/2 level tsp ginger
1/2 level tsp mixed spice
1/4 level tsp bicarbonate of soda
1 egg
2 fluid ounce of milk
The problem being it doesn't specify what type of flour. Looking at the the other ingredients can you please tell me if the flour needs to be plain or SR??? Many Thanks

Not being very educated, i would go for SR flour. Not an awful lot of other raising agents in there. Let us know how you get on.:j If im wrong , i genuinely apologise but thats what i would do.A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Success!! Went for the SR flour option. DD said that the teacher said it didn't matter which (why didn't they say that in the recipe then?!) But she has made the most delicious dark ginger cake I have ever tasted. Thanks for you help.0

Kim & Aggie have used nail-polish remover on the 'orrible brown stuff that sticky tape often leaves behind....but that may have been on the plastic frames
Hot soapy water would shift the actual tape though.
