    Hi all, Can I join.....

there is only me and my daughter in a 3 bed, 2 recptn house. The place is bulging with 'stuff'.

My bedroom has built in wardrobes, 2 double one and a single, with 5 overhead cupboards. All full with clothes and random items.

Anyway 6 bags later, 2 for Northern Ireland Children Cancer charity, 2 for rubbish and 2 for loft (each in the next size down to me)....I'm so gonna get into those clothes if it kills me.;)

Out of the loft I got down all of my babys old clothes an sorted them into 4 bags, 1 for rubbish and 3 for my cousin (if her baby is a girl - it is due in 2 wks) or ebay.

Going to attempt the kitchen tomorrow.

    Can I join in too?

Four bedroom house, three publics, downstairs utility room and an attic measuring 45' x 15'. All FULL of junk, can you belive it? We moved in here ten years ago from a two bedroom house and have been filling the place up steadily ever since. In my defence we've had some horrific personal problems (deaths, depression, two miscarriages, one new baby) pus we've had a new roof, new windows, central heating and a new kitchen put in, so there's never really been a time that it's been under control. But I suddenly realised my elder child is now 12 and he's never really lived in rooms that haven't had some sort of box swamp growing and muliplying in a corner, oops. I did do a serious dejunk about two years ago when I was averaging a bin bag of clutter per day out to the tip or the charity shop but even after an estimated 100 bags, things did not look much different. We all have hobbies, you see, seriously untidy hobbies...

But TODAY IS THE DAY. It's the start of the school holidays here in Scotland and I promised DD that she would be changing bedrooms with us by the time she was 7. Her birthday is on Saturday next. So today I am stripping our bedroom out. There are boxes ready in the hall for stuff for the charity shops and dump. There is ONE box marked Ebay. There is a modest space in the hall for the junk----er, essentials that I am going to keep. Idea is that I clear my room of everything but the furniture by tomorrow. Then we move her in (also via the charity shop bags) then swap the beds by Friday. I have the kids to help me with the carrying, and I've promised them the profits from the Ebay box for a Christmas pressie bonus.

Wish me luck....cheaper than going to Centre Parcs anyway!

  • Well, managed to get rid of the following via freecycle:

    -15" monitor
    -old IBM laptop
-Two boxes of perennial plants (we are redesigning the garden)
-3 sacks of bedding to an animal sanctuary.

Also managed to get rid of a black sack of office shreddings onto the compost heap!

I have to confess - I ran out of time to do the ebay listings! Must get on with that this week.
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

  • :o Bought a lot of wool - bags and bags of the dratted stuff. I have flock of sheep's worth. However

    Out
    Today
All the usual rubbish for the bin men as it is bin men day which sadly includes quite a few elderly yogurts. :o
    Over the weekend
Bottle warmer that had gone 'odd'
lots and lots of cardboard boxes
    half a dozen catalogues

It would have been more, but little bear has been poorly.

Currently working on some knitting that can be 'out'

I have decided - tomorrow is list on ebay day. I am also going to reduce my focus, so that I will not be concentrating on the heap that was formerly known as the dining room, but a mere corner of it. Divide and conquer! And throw out!!!!

Edited to add - I would very much like to move, and I saw a lovely little place within walking distance of dear heart's work and in the countryside. But I don't think I could fit half of our items into a two bed bungalow, even though we would pay off our mortgage with the move. I shall print out the picture and pin it up as an inspiration!

In: a couple of tops for ME (makes a change).:D

Out: All the junk mail that's been sitting at the front door waiting to get recycled or shredded - one shelf reclaimed! Also tidied the drawer in the living room that's supposed to have all the useful stuff like envelopes etc so another bag of rubbish for the bin and one of recycling. Drawer is now streamlined with document envelope for pending filing and others for stationary etc so it doesn't get all messed up again. A small step for some but hopefully a big stress reliever for me!:T :T

Also found one of them radiator keys so can finally bleed the noisy radiator in lounge.:D
