I know this sounds very wet, but can one of you kind people who sound so confident about it steer me towards an idiot's guide to selling on e bay ? I looked on the site (I buy things, but have never sold) and it all looks very daunting and I have quite a few things I'd like to get some cash for. Or is there some other forum I should look in? I'm sure that if I could sell a few things I'd feel more confident and be able to get started on the mountain of stuff which fills my house, but it all just seems too complicated (and I looked at using a trading assistant, but to pay them 30% sounds like an awful lot).
I would be very grateful for any ideas.....

Hiya, there is a dedicated thread to ebay on this board where you might get more help but my top tips are:

get yourself a set of scales cheap ones from a supermarket will do. make sure you weigh each item allowing for packaging then go to royal mails website to get the correct prices. make sure you add a little to the price to cover the cost of packing materials etc.

post outside of the uk - you will get loads of european and worldwide sales due to the economy. just get the price off royal mail international prices and add them to your listing as it will attract buyers.

if the item is just clutter start it at 99p - it's free and you might be surprised how much it goes for.

turbo lister is fab - you'll find a download for it on ebay if you search their sitemap (top right) . this allows you to edit / add listings at your leisure then upload them all at once say a sunday night to finish in 7 days.
    god luck

    - more books from a boot sale at the weekend
    - fruit and veg - most from market, some from my growbags, and a friend's garden

    OUT
    - lots of stuff to same boot sale and charity shop - the house is looking a lot better and has become a bit echoey, so maybe I've gone too far!
    - A couple of books and other bits and bobs on eBay
    - a couple of larger items on freecycle
-two large items of clothing that were way past their best and irreperable to textile recycling.

I have a strange item - not sure how I can declutter it. It's a very expensive piece of underwear that was destined to be worn under a wedding dress - any ideas? eBay has taken one of my listings down recently (for a very innocuous item!), the lady on freecycle keeps issuing me with tellings off (for trying to upload a picture, for trying to offer tickets to an event, and for sending a "taken" message to let people know the item had gone??????), so I am a bit stumped. Any ideas welcome - PM me if you want a more thorough description of this mystery item!!
