    Can I join?
I am a hoarder by nature, and single parent to two children who seem to find getting rid of even obviously useless stuff even harder than I do.
Today I am having a particularly bad day with clutter, because I haven't just got too much of it, but it's all over the place. I was avoiding dealing with it and then I saw this thread...
    ***********************************
OK so since typing that I have symbolically thrown something away - a stupid board game that wasn't much fun to play (even for the kids) and hadn't got all its pieces anyway.
In the morning (well, it is morning now, but YKWIM) the kids and I are going to try to have a house sorting out day for half term. I'll post to say what we manage to get rid of.

Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

    Good luck Lydia

Don't know how old your children are but my youngest is 7, and what I've found works best with her is if we sort through (for example) ALL the cuddly soft toys - and for every two she keeps, she passes one on - and then at the very end she's allowed (as she's been so good), to take one back out of the 'passing on' pile. She feels she's gained an extra (and I feel that we've thinned them out considerably). I now have a sack of cuddlies in the shed ready for the school fete....:j (we had over a hundred....:o:o)

I recently had a good book sort out too - we got rid of four boxes of books/videos at the guides jumble sale - and bought one really nice dinosaur book (30p:D) as our 'exchange'.

Good luck Lydia. I am the same. Like mother like son. Two hoarders living together.
We have come up with a plan! We are going to carboot the old toys/clothes etc and I have told him I will double the money it makes (could be an expensive mistake) and he can spend that any way he pleases.

Good Luck with you sorting today...I'm finding it very therapeutic.

I really need to get back into this thread. I have clutter everywhere in my house and it never seems to get any better no matter how hard I try.

Today I haven't brought anything into the house but nothing has left either, so will try to rid the house of a few things tomorrow without buying more.
