Inspired by the idea of a trip to Hong Kong with my friend (which I've now decided I can't afford anyhow), I spent Saturday night going through the pile of tosh in the corner of our spare room. Halved it, but could have got it down a lot more if the boyfriend didnt insist on keeping all sorts of tat (why does a 26 year old need birthday cards from his 22nd, its not even a landmark biorthday!). I got a box ready for a boot fair which I will do one day this summer, honest!
I also put on freecycle a clothes rail, which went last night, some curtains which we never got round to putting up, those are being collected tonight, and a rickety old wardrobe which I disassembled, before my boyfriend decided we should keep it to store aforementioned tosh in. I despair!
Got rid of loads of packaging and cardboard but my blue bin is now full and wont be emptied for 3 more weeks. Some paperwork to go through tonight and I MUST do that shredding that I've already accumulated. I just cant bear the noise!
Haven't done any recycling since last summer and we get through a lot of strongbow and wine in our house, so you canimagine the pile in the garage. But I just know that as soon as I get rid of it all they'll introduce one of those clubcard points recylcing machinesd at my local Tesco!Wins 2012: £50 Love2Shop voucher, Lets Dance tickets, Juan Zelades CD, bluetooth speaker, Blackberry 9360 with £30 credit a month, Chocolate, Maybelline Goodie Bag, Hunter wellies!0 -

I wouldn't worry about those - they now only pay out points for soft drinks cans in ours - they used to do points for glass, plastic bottles and any tin cansClear the space and be free!!:rotfl:

Good work declutterers!
I've not posted for a few weeks and have noticed the impact on my motivation!
IN
Car parts
A beer making kit
Two chairs (after I realised there was nowhere to sit when some friends came over!)
A wastepaper bin on Freecycle
Lots of toiletries
OUT
An armchair on eBay
lots of books, clothes and shoes on eBay
Cleared out top shelf of kitchen cupboards - not quite sure why I needed so many tins of golden syrup or mung beans - should make an interesting dish by putting those two together!
Must keep going!Overpay!0 -
In - a welly rack:T. Now got tidy wellys in one place:T
Out - car boot full of paper for recycling.
Must try harder tomorrow!0 -
IN:
- new mattress - delivery men wouldn't take it into loft and it took OH and 3 neighbours to get it there - and bannisters had to be removed!!
- 1 paperback book bought for 30p at WI last night
- tomato plant & echinacea plant bought at WI
- Pregnancy grant money of £190!! Transferred to savings account for holiday spending money in July
- missing bit for shower delivered
- couple of small items for my mum's bday pressie
- 1 brand new table runner sold at WI - unwanted gift
- 1 brand new sarong was attempted to be sold at WI but have decided to give this to a relative for their birthday, so it has gone in present stash instead. So not technically out yet, but it now has a purpose rather than cluttering my drawer (It still has all labels on, and I bought it for me, it's not a re-gift, so I feel ok about that)
- 5 paperback books given to my mum for her to read and then pass on
- small amount of handmade soaps and bathsalts sold to WI members - yippee! Too much money tied up in them at the mo and I am not really doing anything with them right now, what with baby number 4 due in 5 days!!
- large amount of paperwork put in recycling bin
- large amount of packaging put aside for trip to tip/ recycling centre at weekend
- 1 item sorted to charity bag in garage
- 3 presents sorted for birthday parties my children are attending in the next 10 days - all from present stash too, so no spends involved!!
