I did a dozen or so boxes about 4 years ago -- but then work stopped being a collection point !!!!
I see our local pharmacy is a collection point this year, so I must dig out the dozen or so I have half made up (toys and such already in them) and see if I can finish them off -- if nothing else it will clear some space, which the rest of the family will be happy about
I must admit I find the hat/scarves/gloves to be the hardest thing to find -- and the most expensive !!!!Cheryl0 -
[quote=In Search Of Me;15089773]hehe what about carrot cake for them there carrots! quote]
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm nomnomnom i love carrot cake, if you want the recipe i use i'll dig it out.
Weezl - the casserole came out lovely!! i think i used about 200g lentils and just added a load of veg and the bacon, a squirt of tom puree and some, garlic granules, cumin and tumeric, am going to thicken up the stock before i serve some up for dinner tonight and i'm going to freeze the rest in one person portions so i have nice easy dinners, i'm thinking on top of a jacket spud would be nice!
i'm going to make the bread later as i want to wait til i've got the oven on for sthg else (yes twinks hobnobs!) as i find if i put the bread in the grill to rise (above the oven) then it really does double in size and taste much nicer.Nonny mouse and Proud!!

hi cw18!
i was in matalan earlier today, and they had lots of hat/glove/scarf sets, i don't know how much they were, as i wasn't actually looking at them! but they wouldn't be too much i would think.
i did see some in our local poundland too.

thanks - will try checking Poundland (will almost cetainly need to pay the bus fare to get to the bank this week, and one branch isn't far from a Poundland), but last time I saw them in a pound store they were sold as seperate items -- so a quid each for the hat, the scarf and the gloves! didn't work out much cheaper than some I found in a sale elsewhere (and the others were a much better quality)
no idea where our closest Matalan is -- and have long since lost my card (haven't used it since we moved just over 7 years ago!)
guess I need to try and get back into my knitting, as I'm sure I could make up a few sets next yearCheryl0 -

morning, I'm still lurking & just seen about the hat, scarves & gloves you're looking for cw18. Ifyou have one near you, Primark sell these quite reasonably iirc for a couple of quid.

thanks -- will check them out when next in the vicinty if it's not too late for the boxes.... wasn't planning to head that way until 6th Nov, but could go that way for the bank (though it means a smaller Poundland!) decisions, decisions......
Anyway, my food budget isn't going badly at all. I knew I'd never get us down to 50p each a day, but was hoping to get us down to 50p each for the main meals (as a monthly average).
In June it was 76p+, but as of Friday night the October average was 50.2p
An expensive tea last night has pushed it back up to 52.3p, but I've still got 13 more cooked meals in which to pull it back down...... so it looks like I may actually hit target this month :TCheryl0 -
Sorry to be a bit OT but as there seem to be a few on here interested in doing boxes I thought I'd put in a little linky to the Christmas Shoeboxes 2008 thread over on the Special Occassions Board. Lots of ideas of bits to put in.
