Guys, whilst this is slightly off topic I saw this and thought of you Weezl and some of the other guys who contribute to this thread.
The original River Cottage book by HFW is on offer at WHSmiths from £30 down to a tenner. Sounds good? Well if you use they link below to the WHS thread there is a generic coupon dated until end of 2008 which gets you £5 off any £10 (or more) book! Getting said book for a fiver.
Now I realise a lot of you may not wish to invest in a book you can easily get from a library however this one has basic animal keeping right thru to cooking odd bits as well as regular bits. (That's when I thought of you Weezl)As well as grow your own information. For a fiver it's well worth a look for yourselves or a 'frugal' gift.

(My advise is print a few of these off incase the link expires at some point. I used one at the weekend on a book that was in the half price hardback sale from £20 to a tenner and then got a further £5 off.) :jBoots Card - £17.53, Nectar Points - £15.06 - *Saving for Chrimbo*2015 Savings Fund - £2575.000 -

The only thing is, the email seems to be addressed to you and the vouchers say that they are not transferable. Have you used any of them more than once already? If so we should all be ok to have a go.0 -
Hi Seakay. No, they are not from an email addressed to me. WHS's did away with their card scheme and the new online privilege scheme sends generic coupons out via email. There is no email/card number attached to the coupon. I printed them out via that link from someone else who kindly posted it on another thread. I used one myself at the weekend with no issues. (my sister used one too, same coupon, different transaction). Hope that helps.Boots Card - £17.53, Nectar Points - £15.06 - *Saving for Chrimbo*2015 Savings Fund - £2575.000

morning!
The lentil and bacon thingie worked well and made 22 portions, at 19p a portion- hurrah :money:. Could have been cheaper if I could've faced peeling and chopping enough onions for 2kg equivalent of chopped diced onions, but courage failed me, and I bought the frozen ones!;)
zarazara that's a very frugal meal without curry spices, have you tried it?
Isom and CW:A about the fruit in syrup debate, I really agree tis not so nice, but it is a quarter of the price! Hmmmn, my dilemma continues.... I've managed to make use of the syrup tho, it makes a good squash. I don't dilute it as much as normal squash, but the syrup from 1 can of figs yielded 2 pints of squash, and that's good for keeping me hydrated, plus no nasty sweeteners or additives.... :T
gonna bake some bread, see a friend and have a check up today, so no work. AM has requested a fruit cake and some syrup sponges, so I'll see what I can do...
Love to all,
Weezl x

I got this recipe off here somewhere, Shaz, but can't give due credit to the right person as I tend to c & p willie nillie everywhere.
Chewy Fruit Muesli slices (8)
1/2 cup dried apricots chopped
1 apple grated
1 1/4 cups of SP muesli
2/3 cup apple juice (from can of prunes)
1 tbsp marg
Preheat oven to 190 (gas mark 5)
Mix all ingredients in a bowl.
Press mixture into a cake tin and bake for 30 -40 mins (check it but my fan assisted is the former timing).
Cut into slices while still warmish and leave to cool.
To be honest the fruit added is whatever is in the cupboards or fridge - like a lot of things it works well with most dried fruits.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

weezl is the lentil and bacon recipe in the index?? sounds like something we would eat
how much are the frozen onions ? have you tried the easy onions in tins around 50p for a 500g tin and they already part cooked in oil so no need to add any only downside the house smells like a fairground i have them in my stockpile for emergencies i must add to it i seem to have been using lately rather than adding
which reminds me asda are selling small cans of sliced black olives for 35p almost half price i bought a dozen and can't find them .....................i wish i had a nigella size pantry and didn't have to hide stuff under beds etc
