heres a linky for varous sweet recipes - I did this turkish delight recipe last year and it IS a bit of a cheats version but unlike the ones I tried with cornflour this one works and is yummy!! I did try the ones with cornflower (twice) and they didnt work!! (just went to mush!!) while this one did and was loved by all who tried it! if you do make it layer it with cornflower and icing sugar between greaseproof paper and it keeps better..
Both dowager chutney and carrot one were a success me thinks at the church do today...a very special day for us all...! Mind you I offered to take the bins to teh tip and one ofthem was rang/mank/gross and I suspect had maggots...eeewww!

Good Morning everyone and thank you for the kind messages re: my driving test. DH thinks he now has his own personal chauffer!
Well DH is off to day one of his new job, finally! He is happy and excited which is lovley.
I have just put a pan of apple chutney on the stove to cook and the house is starting to smell lovely of ginger and mixed spice, apples and onions. This should be nice with cheese......one day.
well, stacks to do with work today so better get started on it while the chutney is bubbling away.
A very warm welcome to all the new people!
Hugs all around

I've only used Firefox for a couple of years now (with the odd exception when a site won't run on it), and I've had no problems with this site whatseoever. Not that much difference between Firefox and the latest IE that I can see though -- they both use the tabbed browsing now, which was the one think I especially loved about FirefoxCheryl0

Hope everyone had a fab weekend. It was my birthday yesterday and Saturday night, my friends got together and planned a night in as I'm not very well at the moment.
They hired a karaoke machine and a stripper! It was so funny, I had such a good time. One of my friends is also a chef and cooked so much food... Luckily I was planning on a freezer week this week so everything I planned is staying in the freezer and I'll be eating some real home cooked Jamaican loveliness this week!Getting there... A deal at a time. :T0 -

You have also given me a thought....I must go in search of some jamaican recipes. I have not tried many but have really loved what I have had so far. I dont eat fish of any kind but some of the other items are wonderful! My DH loves the sweet type things...but then he has a real sweet tooth.
Apple chutney is now done and sealed down in jars, the nibble that i had of it tasted amazing. So far out of all the apples that I was given I have made 6 jars of applesauce, 4 jars of apple jam and now 5 jars of chutney. Have enough left to do another batch of chutney and perhaps jam and if any left want to make some mincemeat and then the rest straight sliced into the freezer.
DH says I should open a shop as the kitchen counter is full of a variety of chutney and jams.....a lot of them will be in everyones xmas boxes this year!
Well back to work for a bit.
Hugs all around

Hi everyone :hello:
Hope a good weekend was had by all ? We had a weekend away (visited my parents, saw my cousin (was her birthday) and stayed in a really posh hotel for the night (free of course ! lol). Hubby gets points through his business travel and he redeemed them so we could all have a lovely night away. We did have breakfast but the kids all ate free so what should have cost us £75 (yup, was that posh ! lol) only cost us £20 - had to be done ! lol
Had a nice tea the night before round my aunties and mum fed us the rest of the time (good old mum ! xx)
I gave my other auntie (we got a big family ) the nappy cake and she was thrilled - she's going to give it to my cousin later this week, just wish I was there to see her face. Funny thing is, we found out her son is expecting now (well, his girlfriend is lol) so I have another one to make :j .
Happy birthday Guapa - sorry it's late !Congrats on the driving test munchki :T . Sorry if i've missed anyone out - I need to go catch up on posts
.
We're having chicken curry here tonight (made with Sainsbury's 4p curry sauce - just tried it and its delicious - i'd have paid £1 for it !!!!) Glad I stocked up to the tune of about 20 jars lol - going to have it with chips another night. Apple crumble for dessert (the last one out of the freezer so I need to do some batch cooking soon now i've got a bit of space).
Hope everyone has a good evening - will be back later once I've caught up after the weekend.:jWeight loss to date 1st 11.5lb :j0 -

DUH! The mere thought of trying to use another "browser" - <goes off with headache> - speaking as "yer original computer illiterate".....aaaagh!
Think M.S.E. have sorted the problem - not had it so far tonight - fingers crossed....I hope I dont regret saying that;)
About the one thing I CAN do with 'puters is I aint too bad at finding links for things that interest me.....still drawing a blank so far though with trying to find a recipe for Transylvanian Apple Juice - or any darn way of making apple juice in a long-lasting sorta way ('twould be possible to buy fancy machinery like apple press or whatever if needed)...

(she googles here...she googles there....she seeks that darn recipe everywhere:cool: - at this darn rate I'll be writing to the Hungarian embassy seeking it....now if they are even half as helpful as I found the Italian Embassy once before....hmmmm...I'd be on a winner......thinks...)0 -
Thank you Munchki and jtb for the birthday wishes.
Here are a few links to authentic Jamaican recipes.
