    Morning all!

I think it'll be another good spend day here at Weezl Towers...

Breakfast- me- porridge and sultanas, got the oats for free, so 2p for the 20g sultanas:money:

Mr Weezl, 2 slices of toast (left over from holiday food, which came out of our annual holiday budget- and remarkably did 5 days away for 2 people including food fuel and fun and accommodation for under £250 :j:j:j)

and a little bowl of muesli 3p

Lunch is a southern Indian style meal at my friends house. (her OH is from southern India). It's quite fiery, vegetarian and lots of rice and lentils. The main difference to a lot of our meals would be how he likes the Sambal/dahl.

I would say mine is often the texture of a chilli con carne sauce, or just slightly wetter. They have it more like a thin soup consistency that you mop up with rice and idli.

    It's very nice anyhow!

dinner is due to be leftover Chinese (lovely brother sent us home with the rest of the Chinese last night!!!) and I shall cook some rice to go with it so 10p total:T:T:T

day spend for the two of us, 15p!

    Good times!

All the best with your busyness.

Shaz, really hoping for you that Uni goes well this week;)

  • Quinoa is lovely IMHO. It makes a lovely pilaff- I just cook it according to instructions, using veggie bouillion rather than water. I add chopped onion, courgette and mushrooms about halfway into the cooking time. My personal favourite is to then serve with some cashews or sunflower seeds stirred through with a drizzle of olive oil. It's also nice if you substitute some if the cooking stock for a tin of tomatoes and add some chilli flakes.

Hope that is of use to someone!

Ohhh that sounds yummy, I won some organic Quinoa and haven't quite known what to do with it, so thanx :T

Just catching up and saw the Weezls are back so hi and hope it was a good holiday, at least there are some people out there who budget on holiday lol.

I am off in January next year for a little over a week and people think I am crazy because we are going to be staying in a tent ... still it be good times.

Shaz ....... hope you have a really great week at Uni ! You must be really excited :j !

Weezl .... well done on the free grub ! Think I might have to start attending more courses at work just for the buffets ! lol

Me and DS (who's 8) are just off to the dig your own farm for the veg for next week (really cheap, probably because you have to dig it out of the ground yourself ! lol)

Have been to the carboot this morning looking for a slow cooker but alas, couldn't find one (they did have several small ones but I want a biggie !)

Will be doing a lot of cooking this PM as I've finished the pond area (thought it might take me today as well but the kids helped me and I got it finished yesterday ..... pics are here if anyone wants a nose :Dhttp://aolpictures.aol.co.uk/galleries/brwnmicha?backState=prevPage%3D/ap/myAlbums.do%26state%3DalbumId%253D25430.1799.1221994975449.1

Hope everyone is enjoying the lovely weather.

I've spent 2 hours this morning mowing our front lawns..... and my back is now suffering, which leaves me in a predicament as the back lawn (which is as much again) still needs doing something rotten! But the green bin is full until they empty it tomorrow morning, so not as if I can do anything unless I borrow someone else's bin anyway ;)

We 'took on' a gardener at the start of the season who already did for next-door-but-1, and he was also booked for the house between us. The agreement was he'd be here once every two weeks, but I think we've seen him a total of 4 times  And a number of them were after 3 or 4 weeks due to 'problems with car', 'problems with the mower' and 'injury to an eye which meant he couldn't drive'. I know the weather's been against him a bit, but he hasn't been for eight weeks !!!!!!!!!! You can image what the lawns are like now !!!!!!!!!!

Doesn't help that our lawns are all on slopes, and hubby bought a mower with swivel wheels -- so everytime it hits an angle or a bump it jumps and wrenches my back :( Think I'm going to trawl the sales for a petrol mower on 4 fixed wheels as soon as I get paid (30th), as I'm not prepared to rely on anyone else next year -- and it shouldn't cost me anywhere near as much in fuel in we've paid the chap when he came. And the gardener isn't an "allowable" expense according to Benefits Agencies (even though neither of us can really cope with doing it and the mower is too temperamental to make son attempt it) so has to be found out of what would otherwise be our food budget. So that should gain me an extra £5-7/week.

And I may try a barter system of some sort with the two neighbours as I know they both want to find someone else (next door have baby twins and the chap works hospital shifts, and next-door-but-1 is a single Mum who works full-time and doesn't own a mower).

Hey all, go weezl on the fab spends...15p..wow!

Well, I got sent home from work with my flu-y-ness, went to bed for about 3 hours and have got up to have lunch, which is pizza, and a sprite 3G. Had to go to the pharmacy for proper medicines...should I count this in my grocery budget? Its not exactly what you'd call a grocery....but I haven't any money of my own left til payday on friday, maybe I can convince oh to pay me for it....hmmmm.

Hope everyone else is having a happy, healthy, Sunday
