Just wanted to say that I hope I have not offended anyone over the last few days. you know how you sometimes get that "feeling". If I have I sincerely apologise.

Certainly not me...I think that the thread is so fast moving sometimes that it gets hard to respond to all posts like we used to when we were little thread...I would say that if someone has been upset maybe they could pm and say so rather than publically do it! Hugs munch and hope you have a good break and remember folks you can please all the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you cant please all the people all of the time!!! Insert big smiling smiley as they seem to have gone again!

Just off to make ice cream and merangue....and then hoover...joy!

Just read the rest...re quinoi - what about with stir fried prawns or sommat? As sais by op you dont cook it for long...

Last I heard the weezles were having a nice chill but havnt heard today as they'll be travelling/unpacking ...sure they;ll be back with us soon! Fergus' first holiday! Just thought I gave him his first cocktail...yahooo!! ok so he was in mummies tummy but am quite chuffed with that...next time with be his 18th birthday!!

    I've made sloe wine with:

    3 lb of sloes
    3 lb sugar
    7 pints boiling water
    Pectic enzyme
    The usual yeast and nutrient.

You pour the water over the sloes and mash them in a fermenting bucket and add the sugar. Once it's cooled to room temo add the pectic enzyme, yeast and nutrient and leave to stand for a week. Strain and put into demijohns and continue in the usual way.

I'm told that once bottled up, it's best left a year before drinking - never managed to leave it quite that long myself. (HIC)

    HTH

that pretty much looks like my recipe ...............you can use dried ones for wine too in much lesser quantities about 1/2 lb instead of the 3lb above

I guess that means you can dry sloes too

    Shaz

    ps not offended me either

I've just had my placed confirmed with the OU! My tutorials will be on Saturday mornings, which is usually my time for domestic blitz! (Weekly home blessing hour, meal planning, shopping, batch cooking) Yikes!

I have been, ahem, "fluttering", for a while now on the tidiness front :o but have just realised I am really going to have to get some proper routines in place in order to get everything done.

good luck with that Plum Pie. I did my degree with OU and it was life changing. I did mainly science courses and the kids still remember the kitchen being full of moths after a night with a sodium lamp experiment!! What will you be studying?

Prospective employers were very impressed with just doing it, I didn't have to actually pass anything (although I went on to get a degree) and I got many interviews on the strength of it. My graduation was a very proud day :T

what a fabulous adventure you are about to embark on :j

re quinoa - I had some once that I had to use up. I disliked it so much I had to hide it from myself! :rotfl:I hid it in risottos if I remember correctly.

does anyone watch "Come Dine With Me" on channel 4? On tonight's episode a woman made a starter with quinoa and sprouted beans - it did look ok actually. I imagine the recipe is on the Ch 4 website

Welcome back Weezl, AM and Fergus, glad you had a lovely time :j

Well, Im still at evil work, just kidnapped the computer for two seconds to catch up coz I'm not gonna get on the compy when I go home, straight to bed for me. Definatly caught something off oh, coz I feel really dire...either that or it the five oclock start ten oclock finish talking.

Welcome back Weezl, AM and fergus(ita):hello: , Im glad you had some good weather for your trip, walking and rain just don't go well together.

Got some pork mince in the freezer and I need to think of something for 2mr, needs using but all I can think of is stuffing burgers, gorgeous, but hardley in keeping with my new healthy me (four fruit and veg and counting...), any and all ideas welcome.

Mumsrus - that turkey as duck idea is super, will have to see if I can persuade oh, he likes duck and pancakes.

Mrs M - yummy bonfire toffee recipe, might have to try that out.

Here you all are! I'm keeping to a strict meal plan for a while as money is very very tight.
Just done an inventory of my cupboards and I'm quite proud of my little stash. Need to stock up on some chopped tomatoes, but I could quite happily live on what I have and just get some fresh food and veg in.
I really wish I lived up North sometimes. Went to North Wales to stay with a friend and they have so much bargains up there, and we foraged!
Loving the turkey leg idea. I might buy one as I'm starting to plan meals for the week after next.
Was I the only one given hot toddys as a child? My gran believed rum was the cure for everything!! lol
Getting there... A deal at a time. :T
