Hi Penny
Well - I did say that this lady would be a welcome visitor to this thread any time....steps back in astonishment....as I couldn't do this much simplifying myself...she's way outa my league!:D0 -
Many of Dicken's characters were based on people he knew or met. His father was in Marshalsea prison, featured in the current BBC production of Little Dorritt There is certainly a lot in my life that could find its way into print disguised in a story or a play.
Did you see the bit where Pancks was looking for Mr Dorrit's name in the book of inmates? The name above his was John Dickens! A nice little touch by Andrew Davies there I thought.0 -

sorry if this has been posted already but it is too MSE to miss!
Wow - keep trying to think of something else to write but can't come up with anything else - wow
Maybe we should introduce her to the MSE forums - she could get some cracking discussions going0 -
I heard an article on R4 6pm news last week.
A woman lived in a flat and spent £7 per month on electricity. That was for making tea. Didn't use the heating, just wore jumpers. Didn't cook, lived on fruit and nuts. Didn't use a car - jogged everywhere. She said that she felt really good and was very healthy.
I was really impressed.Happy chappy0 -
There was a link to the article posted yesterday somewhere. The Mail covered it.0

I've been trying to keep up with Little Dorrit too but keep missing it. It's stunning to think that poorhouses were common place not so very long ago. We should all be grateful that life has changed for most of us." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."
