Just googled land of leather manufaturing faults and got a huge list of forums where people had complained about LOL. Looks like I will have a bloody hard time getting them to replace it, so will just give trading standards a quick call for some advice....

Sending a big hug for AnWsMum and your friend - I'm glad that your friend believes that her mum has gone to a better place, and that she isn't suffering any more, but it still must have been a horrible shock for her. You are both in my thoughts, and I'm sorry that I can't say anything to take away the pain you are both going through at the moment. If you need to talk, you know that we are all here for you, whether through PM or on the thread.sadhug.gif

Polkadot I'm sorry that the woman at playgroup was so standoffish. I'm sure it is only through jealousy as there is no way that her cakes will be better than yours! Have you come to a conclusion about what you're going to do about your Toxic friend yet? I say, stuff them both! Buttkick.gif

Tia how is the sandwich shop going? I often think of you when I go into our local town, as we now have 3 sandwich shops! It's definitely a good business to be in by the look of things.eat.gif

Diva I'm sorry that you're having troubles with your family. I don't really have any good advice, but maybe you would prefer a big hug? I give good hugs. smileyhug.gif

Did quite a big shop at mr T, and it only came to £27.37 so I'm quite chuffed with that - I miss the days when I used to be able to get the shopping for under £20 - there is only the two of us plus the cat, and I get his food at our local farmshop as I refuse to buy the unethical supermarket foods for him.

I got a few things with yellow stickers, including 2 quite big cheese and vegetable lattices (reduced from £1 to 75p - not much I know, but it'll make a good meal if I freeze them), and that can be put on the menu for the week after next. They had loads of them, and I've discovered that Wednesday is a good day for reductions - luckily I got in about a minute before the bus carrying all the pensioners got in, although people were still rude enough to block the aisles with their trolleys so no-one could get to the shelves.

Next Tuesday and Wednesday I'm out all day on supply in Portsmouth to cover a teacher's jury service - if the trial goes on a while, I may be needed the following week too (30th September and 1st October). If I'm not needed there the following week, the agency have pencilled me in for a local school all day on 1st October, and they said that that week is filling up with bookings already, so is likely to be busy. Sounds like I could be working 5 days a week again soon, which will be good for the bank balance, but probably not so good for flying - especially as we're such a chatty bunch, so I'll spend hours catching up on the thread.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Just having a cuppa after being in the loft.

I've got the box of stuff I wanted to sort for ebay tomorrow and found a piece of fabric to cover my file (I'll let you know how it goes Toots) and found two cushion pads to exchange for the disintegrating ones in the family room - already changed those and put the old ones in the rag bag which I will dispose of tomorrow.

Going to get the garden bits done now and then list update.

Oh I just remembered - toots and rach want my recipe for potato pesto bake:

(Adapted from The Complete Family Cookbook)

8 potatoes (It says thickly sliced, but I slice them fairly thinly as they are quicker to cook then)
    Green Pesto
300ml/9.5 floz sour cream (I substitute creme fraiche as it's cheaper)
    60g/2oz grated mature cheddar
    Ground black pepper

    1) Boil, steam or microwave potato slices until they are almost tender and then drain any excess water, and layer the potatoes in the bottom of a greased ovenproof dish.
    2) Spread the pesto over the potatoes.
    3) Spoon the sour cream or creme fraiche over the top and sprinkle grated cheddar and ground black pepper over the top.
    4) Bake at 180C/350F/Gas Mark 4 for 10 minutes or until the potatoes are soft and the top is golden and bubbling.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

    [STRIKE]Clear any clutter from desk[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Dust PC and desk and wipe off those cup rings!![/STRIKE]Why have I never thought to mop the wall tiles? I always just wipe to where I can reach, so these have not been done to the tops since I moved in in May. I never thought they looked too bad,but now I've done this I can feel the difference. It's so much brighter in there! Also, you know how I've been moaning about the grout on the floor tiles? I've always hated them because they are matt tiles, Ive been mopping away for months. I just took a scourer out of the cupboard to try to wipe off some grimy bits-and the grout just came off :j Granted it wasn't without its elbow grease but I've done three full tiles now and just had to take before and after pics. Im AMAZED.
[STRIKE]Wipe keyboard, house phone, sockets, switches and mouse etc[/STRIKE]
    Level Three
[STRIKE]Wash your bathroom mats, nets, clean blind/curtains etc[/STRIKE]WM on right now
[STRIKE]Scrub down tiles in bathroom.. defragment your pc while doing this.[/STRIKE]
Empty and clean out all the upstairs bins! Thursday is bin day here
    [STRIKE]Clean shower screen/curtain if you have one/if required[/STRIKE]In WN
[STRIKE]Collect all the dirty laundry[/STRIKE] In WM
    Extra mission: Take your pick!
    1. [STRIKE]Wipe the skirtings, door and window frames in these rooms[/STRIKE]
    2. [STRIKE]Fling all those empty bottles and tubes[/STRIKE]
    3. [STRIKE]replace any sponges, flannels, toiletries that need it[/STRIKE]
    4. Make a long list of those bodies you need to purchase christmas gifts for!!.. 98 days!! lol

My upstairs neighbour is 7 weeks pregnant, and has had a spell in hospital for severe morning sickness. She's home now, and I want to get her something for when I visit her - has anyone got any ideas about what she may appreciate? I know it's quite early, as she hasn't reached 12 weeks yet, so I don't think I should get a congratulations card etc in case it's bad luck.

SexymouseDF had said he would take it by one evening after work, we tried to get it in a "basic post" envelope. You know, there's all this new stuff about thickness and weight. Its too big so to post it I'd have to go into post office. Our nearest is about half an hour walk (not on bus route) and frankly, I think its nice enough that DF offered to go by, Im not having him stand in a queue at lunchtime.
So she phone this morning-immediately all uppity saying she'd not had a response (I had only just sent it) so I told her what was going on. "But he's going away on Friday right?" "yes, he'll bring it tommorow" " But I'm not going to be in" "he'll put it through the postbox or leave it with your neighbour" "NO, it's too sentimental, just give me your address and I'll send you a cheque for postage":rotfl: "No, if you don't want him to bring it then come and fetch it" all I heard after that was yelling so I put the phone down.
Got home from playgroup to find this in my inbox (edited for obvious reasons)
I did not yell at you. I did not say anything even remotely uncivil or impolite to you. I simply did not wish (DF) to go out of his way for no reason and was calling to say so, as well as to tell you -- so you would know for your own records -- that no emails had come through to me. Given the problems you've had with your broadband, I thought you'd want to know.
I am happy to send you an envelope with postage already affixed if need be. I see no reason why (DF), if willing to come here, he cannot just as easily drop a package in any post office or just stuff it in a post box. It is not a particularly large hand bag. Nor do I need it tomorrow. I simply want it as soon as possible with the least amount of bother on anyone's part. I see no reason why this is such a problem.
Please just send me your postal address so that I can post an envelope to you.
If you cant manage this rationally, would you please forward (DF'S) email address to me and he and I can work it out with the least amount of fuss. We are adults -- I see no reason for all of this.

I sent it to DF-he laughed, why would he want to deal with her after whats happened, never mind the way she treated him whenever they had to be in the same room.
