My local authority-in Scotland-will give Blue badges to anyone over 80 years of age. A medical certificate is not required but they do make a charge of £2 for issuing it.0

I can see you are angry because everyone else does it but.....
You really have to set an example by just not doing it. In america , which is not my favourite land, they do have some good moral`s (enforced by police morals) if you parked in a disabled spot you would get a hefty fine and your car might not look the same when you get back either. There have been cases of cars being keyed and garbage thrown on them etc
I`ve got a disabled girl with pump bags tubes everywhere and wheelchair and special seat that comes out of car by a good two feet, so cant park in normal spot.
But I never evr park in disabled with the badge unless shes with me, badge or no badge, on respite from her for a measly two hours a wekk when i could do witha quick easy parking spot or not.
Be a gent and set an example to the rest, one person see`s you and thinks its ok for them, nmuch the same as you probably did. P.S. it doesnt make you a really bad person just a little ignorant on one small occasion.0 -

From a govt site...''Non-disabled people who park in a bay designated for Blue Badge holders are liable to a parking fine''.- therefore one can reasonably conclude that if a fine is administered then a crime has been committed, grounds for a police interest perhaps?Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -

But we are talking about a private car park over which the police have no jurisdiction in relation to parking. The above would be applicable on the street but not at the supermarket but is still unlikely to be a police matter. Also although some parking fines are dealt with the in the Magistrates Court, they do not constitute a crime and again are nothing to do with the police. These fines are still administered by the council although enforceable through the Mags Court.
Where the police have retained on road parking enforcement, it is still not a CRIME not to pay the fine. Incorrect parking was decriminalised some time ago.0 -

Did manage to persuade her to get the flu jab again this year but she really doesn't like going. Lucky that she doesn't get much wrong with her other than "I'm getting on a bit"!

The common excuse that such behaviuor is okay "because everybody does it" is simply not true. Most of us recognise, accept and respect the need for special provision for the disabled. It is only selfish, lazy people who abuse it and in doing so they undemine the provision required by disabled people. Your OH had no excuse for using the disabled space yet you think you are being badly treated. I can't see why.
He ignored the signs, took advantage of places reserved for people who needed them and then moans when he gets caught. Serves him right. He should pay up and shut up as he has nothing to complain about.
I am glad a supermarker is prepared to enforce disabled parking, though if people like your OH behaved more decently they wouldn't have to. He should pay the fine and leave the spaces to those for whom they are designated in future. My father was barely able to walk in the last few years of his life yet was often put to considerable, trouble, difficulty and pain by selfish people who abused disabled parking spaces like your OH.
This has nothing to do with what 0ne poster called "political correctness" this is simply about decent behaviour asnd consideration for those who need it.Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!0 -
I once parked in a disabled bay, but only because the traffic warden actually said I could. They might get bad press but sometimes they can be really nice. I've had one give me the 40p needed to cover the parking too.Nice to save.0

We need to seperate out, whether we think what the driver did was wrong, and whether the private parking company is acting lawfully. The classic is the person who kept writing to our local newspaper re speeding, how bad it was how people only have themselves to blame etc-until tHAT person got caught speeding. She wrote in (Embarrassment at the humiliation she was getting from her family) saying she didnt deliberately do it, she didnt realise etc etc.We can all do stuff like this-beware it might be you next, but while weve got responsibilities we also have a right to be treated fairly by corporate monsters, some of which are private carparking companies.I dont agree with illegal parking either.0

You were more than happy to take the parking space designated for a disabled person (It doesn't matter if there were still loads of disabled bays left)...Would you be just as happy to take their disability aswell??...I think not.
If I were built like The Terminator, I'd like to say to people who park in Disabled bays: "Are you disabled?" and if they answered "No", I'd say "Do you want to be?"
Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.0
