The Disability Discrimination Act not only requires Supermarkets etc etc to provide disabled bays,it now requires them/or their agents to monitor them to stop them being misused.Hence your ticket.0

In part, it reads: "All grants and promises of fines and forfeitures of particular persons before conviction are illegal and void."
Which is why they are called 'penalty notices'.
As others have said, stop moaning.
It's about time abusers got punished. I can't believe the nerve of some people - coming on here when you've admitted the ticket was deserved.

I think a £20 fine for parking a few minutes in a disabled bay is outrageous.
It should be a minimum of £100 !Bad Spellers of the world untie0 -
Wow.... look at the PC Brigade out in force. If you actually read the post, it wasn't the OP that parked in a disabled bay, it was their other half, and they didn't come on here asking if it was right to do so or not. They asked is it legal to be given a ticket in a private car park.Titch0

How long were you standing at the cash machine for? On one hand I think they were harsh for giving you a parking ticket if you were only there for 5 minutes and if there were other disabled parking spaces available. The person who gave you the ticket must have seen you get out and go straight to the cash machine. But on the other hand if it was me I would probably pay the £20 and put it down to experience.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Only half on topic - how annoying are those people who display disabled stickers in their cars but you can see the person for whose benefit that sticker was issued isn't actually accompanying them. The ones who jump out of the car, grab a trolley and stride into the store whilst I am helping my 85 year old Mum from my car to the store so she can do her shopping (I would do it for her but she likes to choose somethings herself). She is not registered disabled just not that steady on her feet. One Asda assistant once told me I should park in the disabled bays - aren't I glad I declined that offer!

Try and read the article in the Mail on Sunday today, this is not quite as straightforward as it looks, I can't do it now but if you have not seen it by tomoorow morning post on here and I will post the relevent points, parking on disabled bays isn't the half of it this could affect any of us.Loretta0

This is a great little earner for supermarkets and will continue to be until people stop parking in disabled bays when they're not disabled. Most major supermarket co.s do quite a lot for disabled people so the penalties inconsiderate people have to pay find their way to a good cause. So.......no, it's not a con it's a penalty imposed on him for doing what he shouldn't have done.
There aren't that many disabled bays in supermarket car parks, so no need for anyone able bodied to use them. And my mate David says he'll swop his badge for your husband's legs just as soon as it can be arranged.0 -
that the ticket wasn't for parking in a disabled bay but not buying a parking ticket.
My local ASDA is in the middle of the town and to prevent people using the car parking free, you have to buy a ticket for £1 which is refundable when you spend more than £2 in the ASDA store.2014 Target;
