Afternoon,
Ive spent most of the morning going through peoples DFD's seeing what sort of costs people living bills are to get a rough idea of how much it will be to rent.
Here's what ive worked out:
£500 Rent (This is rough price of a small one bed flat in my area)
£100 council tax
£25 Gas
£25 Elec
£150 food
£25 Water & sewage
£12 Tv license
£15 BT
Total £787
Do you guys think that looks about right for household bills? Without mobiles, car etc? is there anything i have forgotten?
P.S. I keep getting logged out of my account...is anyone esle?Make £5 a day JAN £121/175 FEB £283/175:jWeekly Grocery budget of £35! Jan £95.05/175 Feb £37.53/1750 -
Yes others are being logged out too there is a thread, apparently they are aware and trying to fix the problem.
Have you thought about insurance? Broadband?0 -
Looks about right though rent on a flat is high but if you live in a flat the electric/water etc shouldn't be too high
I found it very hard living in a flat with Nick, you get in top of each other and its a pain which is why we moved to a house, i could never live in a flat again.
You might struggle if you got pregnant whilst there.
Some flats do include council tax though, ours did.
Oh and as KM mentions you need Contents Insurance.
I keep getting logged out too grrr. Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0 -
I was thinking of not having any internet at first!!! I thought i could come back home to use there PC once a week. As i dont have my own laptop or pc to take with me when i move out. But if i was to get broadband it would be £5 with O2 as i have contract mobile.
I see mobiles, internet, as luxuries that i would be willing to give up if i had to.
What sort of insurances do i need when renting? Sorry...im blonde and a newbie at moving out!lol Contents?
Thanks girls glad its not just me getting logged outMake £5 a day JAN £121/175 FEB £283/175:jWeekly Grocery budget of £35! Jan £95.05/175 Feb £37.53/1750 -
Contents insurance will protect all your possesion inside the house/flat. It depends what level you get but you can protect against accidental damage etc.
The buildings insurance should be provided by the landlord as its his building to protect.
As for the internet you may have to work out how much you 'earn' via the internet and see if its possibly better to pay out on a laptop and broadband or you will miss out on the income you generate on here and you seem to do pretty well so it may make sense to 'invest' in setting yourself up with your own computer and broadband? Plus didn't you say you wanted to do an online course? If you are going to go back to work full time after having a baby as you have suggested then it sounds like the courses are more important than ever to ensure getting the work?0 -
Theres no chance of us getting anything bigger than a flat around here or starter home. One bed flats are £500-£600 two bed flats are start at £600 in a rough area.Make £5 a day JAN £121/175 FEB £283/175:jWeekly Grocery budget of £35! Jan £95.05/175 Feb £37.53/1750

Yes if i did have my own PC/Laptop i would sign up for a online course straight away. Ive actually just remembered my OH saying thats his parents were buying a new PC soon, i will have to ask him when there getting one. We may well be able to have theres for nothing!
As in my Sig i do earn alot in vouchers and cashback off the internet. So £5 a month on broadband wouldnt matter because of the profit i make from net.Make £5 a day JAN £121/175 FEB £283/175:jWeekly Grocery budget of £35! Jan £95.05/175 Feb £37.53/1750 -
I totally agree with KM on the internet, look how much its helped you getting out of debt, i couldn't stay on track without it.
You could get mobile internet so you don't have to have a landline from BT?Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0 -
I dont have a clue how the mobile broadband works! It does interest me as we really would prefer to do without a BT line. Can you get unlimited on mobile broadband though?Make £5 a day JAN £121/175 FEB £283/175:jWeekly Grocery budget of £35! Jan £95.05/175 Feb £37.53/1750

I think its called a 'dongle' just looks like a memory stick and you plug it in your computer. You can get unlimited broadband and if you get a good deal it can be cheaper than the price of BT plus broadband. I know someone who has done this and it means you can use your internet literally anywhere and they just have good deals on their mobiles so don't need BT line anyway.0
