[TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] Marketing Company - YOU WILL NOT BE A MANAGER ONE DAY!!!
Comments
-
I would like to give a personal thankyou out to everyone who has contributed to this forum. If you hadn't I may have found myself in the rain for this ridiculous 2nd interview. The company was JMS marketing in Leeds and they seemed to have followed the same script as many of the other posters have pointed out such as you will be earning 70,000 a year. They had moved location to 2 floors above the previous one which is apparently why it looked so empty. One 'fact' the manager told me I haven't heard before was 97% of new businesses fail in the first year. If that is correct I will be astonished because I thought it was closer to 75%. When I asked the managing director why his office just had a desk and 2 chairs he gave me the excuse that everything was being delivered later. The hints are very subtle though such as the receptionist spending ten minutes resizing a logo of the Hilton Hotel to make it seem that this company is writing official letters for them.0

Recently I was walking through Sunderland City Centre and noticed a Victoria Jackson make-up stall set up just outside of the WHSmiths. I thought "Hey, would you look at that, JMS Marketing/Marketing Concepts/MCS are up to their tricks!" and decided to have a wander over.
The decidedly-orange woman who was, I assume, in charge, was bigging-up sales techniques to the lost-looking girl standing with her. I thought I'd be a sport and offer a helping hand of my own, and began the following conversation;
Me: "Good afternoon, can I just ask a few questions of you both?"
Trainer: "Yes sir, how can we help?"
Me: Well, I'd like to know first of all if you are in any way affiliated with JMS Marketing Limited, Marketing Concepts Limited, MCUK Limited..."
Trainer: "No sir, we aren't."
Me: "I see. How about the PerDM Group?"
Trainer: "Yes sir, we're part of the PerDM Group... Might I ask why?"
Me: "I'll explain in a moment, just humour me. Now, Miss, could you answer some questions for me?"
Newbie: "Erm, yeah, I sup-"
Trainer: "I'll answer any questions you might have."
Me: "No, I'm asking her. Have you signed any forms yet?"
Trainer: "No, we haven't."
Me: "I'm not asking you. (to the other) Are you aware that the Consignment Forms that your Trainer here will make you sign in a few days are actually used to register you as self-employed, thus negating the Working Time Regulations as well as your right to a Minimum Wage?"
Trainer: "That's not true!"
Me: "Actually it is. Are you also aware that the only way to earn '100% commission' is to be self-employed, as any other Sales job of ANY kind will pay your basic Minimum Wage and then a small percentage of your commission on top of that, if you meet reasonable targets?"
Trainer: "That's not true either!"
Me: "Yes, it is. Would you be interested in knowing that 13 weeks after you sign this Consignment Form you are bound by law to be hired by the company you are -already- working for and paid at least National Minimum Wage in addition to your commission, and that if the company ignores this then they are breaking the law?"
Girl: "Well, no..."
Trainer: "He doesn't know what he's talking about!"
Me: "I don't, do I? What company do you work for then?"
(At this point, the alarm bells DEFINITELY start showing on the poor girl's face as her Trainer spouts -her own name- followed by 'Promotions Limited'...)
Me: "And tell me, is this your second "Interview"? The one where you aren't shown 'the Glitz and Glam side of the business, but you get to meet Clients and see how the basic sales techniques are applied'?"
Girl: "... How do you know what they said?"
Trainer: "Shut up."
Me: "I think I won't, if you don't mind. I suggest you get out of the company before you start losing money. I almost fell for it too, and I'm glad I caught on before I did. I went to the interviews for the craic, and I'm glad to see their script hasn't changed no matter which scam company you get 'hired' by."
At this point, the Trainer looked furious and started screeching at me in the middle of the high-street, sarcastically mouthing off about how much of a help I had been and "thanks for the information" while the girl she was training grabbed her handbag and walked away as fast as possible.
That Victoria Jackson stall hasn't been back, to my knowledge, and definitely not manned by the same Trainer if it has
Because of your actions you will have saved this girl a lot of bullying later on when they tried to break down her self esteem. Well done to you.0 -

Big thanks to all posts, I always research companies before attending any interviews but I never expected anything like what I found out here... Really shocking that people can get away with this kind of thing. Was advertised as "Trainee IT marketing consultant" What Bull!0 -
My friend nearly got duped by JMS Marketing operating in Sheffield. They advertise using several company names, one being Fast Track Acquisitions so please watch out for them.Stay at home mum and blogger who loves to earn money online!0

Went through the "interview" and amazed them witrh how well I did
Got home and my father in law gave me the low down on them before I drank the Cobra Kool-aid. Absolute scumbags0 -
Does anyone know anything about Praetorian Marketing in Queensway, Birmingham? My son has been offered a job with them. He will be selling in a team. He is 17 years old. Has anyone worked there and can give us any information as to what its all about, as my son didnt seem clear about it when he had attended the interview?0

I was conned into going for an interview and wished I had looked at your webpage beforehand. Fortunately, I realised once I got there, that is was a scam and didn't take it further. Lucky escape!0

UNITED LEEDS ENDEAVOURS is the latest name JMS Marketing are using in LEEDS
I had to post this after seeing this thread.
My nephew applied for a few jobs yesterday and today recieved a phone call asking her to attend an interview - he was delighted.
It's tough out there at the moment :-) anyway i was checking out their website and reading between the lines of their BS (It smacked of timeshare sales spattle) so i decided to do some research, googled the address and telephone number and up popped this forum.
So we decided to post a copy of their latest letter complete with spelling mistakes and grammatical errors...not unlike their website.

Oh how funny RedFive Marketing / Solutions / Parker worldwide / PAP southampton
Business address has slightly changed again to avoid bad press, now seen as
Red Five UK
Business Suite
1 Bargate House,
Bargate Street,
Southampton,
SO14 2DL
Look at the bottom how in tiny weeny writing the says Parker Worldwide
Take note such a scam
Whether Charity, Talk talk or 'government surveying' 6 days a week, self employed yet made to feel 12 hour days are part of the process just to earn the boss big bucks on the promise that one day it will all be yours.
Have a dream? then set your own company up well away from them
then earn what you like - statistically you have more chance of having your very own successfully business then making to their franchised, pyramid scheme and can still have a life to enjoy
Warning also now in plymouth alongside southampton and bournemouth too0 -
Not to forget Global Platinum in Bournemouth
Same office, same scam - different name0
