Ironing board just collapsed on me tonight, worked out it is/was 33 years old, anyone seen a ironing board on their travels  ;D ;D

Ha Ha I wish my ironing board would collapse I hate my ironing board and have been punching the code for one everytime I hit an Argos just can't bring myself to go pay full price somewhere as I know sooner or later I will find one reduced in the meantime I shall have to persist with my ironing board/skate board!

    .

I get the underlying feeling that there is a suspicion of profiteering on my part - I can assure you that that's not the case at all.

Not what I was suggesting just pointing out the opportunities for those that would do so

  • Well Ben after studying the ironing boards in Tesco tonight, had them all lined up checking the sizes etc I decided on the value range one, same width as one twice the price and only a couple of inches shorter and hey whats a couple of inches between me and my ironing board 8)

£9.99 and paid for with my vouchers also picked up my own Christmas pressie from my daughter, one of these spa thingys that you pop in the bath and it makes the water bubble. Half price at £14.99 and it tells you not to panic if you drop it in the water :o

edited to say that I have my slave labour doing her own ironing at the moment, that is why it was essential to buy it tonight ;)
  • Pity you've already bought one, you've missed out on this:

    :o

    * Ironing has never been this much fun!
    * Towel disappears when heat is applied
    * Elasticated cover fits most ironing boards

Now there's no excuse not to get the ironing done with this heat-sensitive printed cover. The more heat that's applied the faster !!!!!! Kane's towel disappears.

PS. If this is too risque just shout and I'll edit it out
  • Damm, I can't get the iron to reach the monitor..... ::)

  • hi-1st post although have been following this for a long time. Have had a great time 'listening in' and feel like I know you all (have had some good laughs!) so would like to share with you all that as of today I am a proud auntie. Obviously I am telling everyone!
Not many bargains in my neck of the woods but have been trying for everyone. Managed to get a thompsons mini system for my daughter thanks to this community.
Final thought - does anyone know of a way to apply heat online? Haven't seen the bottom of my ironing pile for many years but this cover may may it an interesting challenge!

Congrats on becoming an aunt, moomin!!

I've discovered that you can get to see the bottom of your ironing pile - when its been there long enough, I reckon its too dry to iron, so you have to wash it again - suddenly, empty "pile"!! ;D

I have to say, that ironing board cover might encourage me to do more, but I suspect it may put my other half off! (unless you can swap it with a female version?!) :P

About the idea of having a list of "volunteers" for picking up - don't like that idea - I'm happy to pick up if I happen to be going near an argos, or have nothing else doing on a particular day (doesn't happen very often with two young kids!), but I'd feel bad turning people down when i couldn't make it. I prefer the idea of people just giving a hollar (sp?!) for help, and being able to volunteer if possible. 8)

Hooray there's someone else like me. My husbands got a shirt that's been in the wash for 4 months cos it gets too dry to iron.  ;D

I just heard on the News that lots of high street retailers will be cutting their prices by up to 50%. They reckon it's because people have too many bills to pay with high mortgage rates etc. but we all know it's because most people have been to Argos instead.
    :)

    Forgot to say, congratulations moomin.
