  • Hi, Mine too were delivered this morning, charged £2.01p for 2. It seems that people who didnt use the free delivery code are getting their books for 1p each.

Mine arrived this afternoon, (rural area, don't ask!)
OK quality, but wouldn't have been happy paying full price.
Will however, grumble that my confirmation invoice stated 1p, yet my credit card was charged £2. I'd used the free P&P code before someone pointed out it wasn't valid with other offers. I'd not noticed it in the small print, but hey, a personalised book for £2, fair enough.
Do think that it's not quite the done thing to have charged the full amount without informing me first.

I ordered two and received two today, charged £2.01. Whilst I wouldn't have paid full price, for about £1 each they are great.

By the way, I did try to use the free delivery code
  • I got a response from my email this morning :

    Dear xxxx,

Thank you for your email. Please allow me to explain. First the confirmation you received is only confirming what you entered into our website. This is not an invoice.

When we set out with this offer, we sent an email to a selected group of our customer base as a “thank you” and here is a special to get your Christmas shopping started. This email offer clearly stated that it was one book per customer plus P&H and could not be combined with any other offer. This was the only advertising we did for this special – via email.

Unfortunately there are many “special” websites out there that get hold of our specials along with the link for our special or sometimes they simply just provide the offer code for people to use. We unfortunately cannot control this type of behavior.

When customers, other than the ones that we sent the email to, use these links or offer codes through means other than from us, we do not want to “punish” these individuals as it is not their fault. Therefore as a gesture of good faith, we honor the special even though we did not send the special to them. Having said that we do restrict it to the terms of the email that was sent. These terms were very clear as are the terms and conditions of our website. It is one offer or the other.

When you entered the free P&H code you removed the 1p book offer code and your order came to us with the full price of the book with free P&H. However we made the assumption that you would prefer the 1p offer with P&H rather than the full book price with no P&H.

xxxx, we are not unique in our conditions of one offer or the other. We do not discount discounts.

    Kind Regards,

    xxxxxxx

  • Ive been charged £2 as well, when I got confirmation it would be 1p. Surely you can dispute the claim with the credit card company ? Although I got my book and its well worth the £2..
  • Whats their email address?

I urge everyone to take this up with their credit card company - they are definately not allowed to take more than you authorised. This is the only way that you can stand up to companies like this.

Received mine this morning, only ordered the one. If I had paid full price for it I wouldve been disappointed, but for 1p + p&p, its a great stocking filler. Was impressed with teddy clock though, was expecting a little dinky thing, but was much bigger than Id thought it would be, my youngest is going to love it.

Many thanks to the OP for this:D
