Just to let everyone know i have filed a small claims court action on HSBC for 1,500. Please support me with this as it was a big move to spend the 120.00 and sue the bank-if they want to make an example of anyone it will be me, i have the worlds worst luck, however i will try to remain as positive as i can through out this.

Surprised no-one has mentioned it so far, but this has made Metro's money page (towards the back of the newspaper). Well done dchurch on your crusade.

Well done on making the claim

I too am in the process of claiming against my bank - Yorkshire Bank - and filed a claim online a couple of weeks ago. They are being very obstructive and wouldn't even let us know how much exactly the total charges have been over the last 6 years  However, we reported them to the Information Commissioner and I'm today writing to the Commissioner again to say the Bank has failed to respond to my Subject Access Request and then the Commissioner can get involved :j

Try not to worry too much about potentially going to court. For one thing, I'm pretty sure it won't even get that far as there have already been a number of successful claims against HSBC ... and even if you did, it's apparently not an actual court room that you'd be in - it's just a room and you sit around a table.

Anyway, well done again and please keep us up to date with your progress! You may also wish to consider letting https://www.bankactiongroup.co.uk know details of your claim - I have done for my case.

I honestly think people should not worry about 'being made an example of'.

It is they, the banks who are being made an example of. They are being shown that they cannot systematically abuse their position and effectively steal money from people who can least afford to be stolen from.

If it goes to court, you can bet your bottom dollar that hundreds of people will show up and that solicitors and barristers who have been watching this will almost certainly attend with you.

(I know of one, who says he will stand with anyone provided they are in England).

No - Metro page 55 - a whole page devoted to bank overcharging referring to Brian Mullen's win over LTSB last week. There's a specific mention to www.bankchargeshell.co.uk and of a report by www.moneyexpert.com. I can't find it online, otherwise I'd post a link.

£100 off Natwest Mastercard today, refunded as gesture of goodwill!! Received letter from Barclaycard, who sort of missed the plot as the letter was a claim for £100 in charges, yet they thought I was just angry about my last charge so ony refunded £20 (will write back!).

I now plan to go to Natwest to get all the charges back of my current account!
