Quite right too. Not only that, our 'additional work' probably isn't automated either.0 -
:A dchurch could you please verify something?
yesterday i received the standard letter back from lloyds refusing to repay charges (over 1300.00)
could you give me more details about my next step please. what to put in my letter and what to omit!!
am hoping to post today, i gave 30 days notice (15 days of that remaining) for money back or action...
lloyds also agreed to waive the 10pound charge for the records - do i have to ask for these before i write again?
sorry if these are obvious questions!!!

i have been having charges by my bank for not having the money in that account in time for dd's to go out, yet i had the money in e-savings which is linked to that account ( just a few mistakes by me for not transfering them to the current account in time ) my bank is nationwide and they charge me £30 a time for this mistake even tho they can see that i have the money in their bank. is there anything i can do about this. any help would be greatfully recieved

Slapps,
Nationwides terms and conditions will not include a provision that if there are insufficient funds in your current account they will automatically transfer the funds for you. In fact you may not want them to do that for whatever reason.
However, your arguement with Nationwide is that £30 charge bears no relation to their actual costs of putting your account back in order, so you can start making a claim to get any such charges refunded.
Be quick though. According to the press at the weekend (independent and FT) the Office of Fair trading has met with the banks and confirmed that they are going to recommend a maximum fee of £15 going forward, so getting all your charges refunded may not be possible. A formal statement is expected from the office of fair trading by the end of march.
R.Smile, it makes people wonder what you have been up to.

What did you ask for in your letter?
If you know the amount they owe you, and have given them a time limit to give the money back and they have refused, then they are not leaving you much choice. It's for a judge to decide if their charges are punitive or not.
Did you ask for a list of charges?
OFT: If the OFT DO announce that (they would be acting illegally in my opinion, as £15 is still much more than it cost, and by their own admission they themselves haven't seen evidence to prove the actual cost, so how can they make a recommendation?) - then I would say you would have a VERY good case for getting any amount over the £15 back.
Sadly, as was not mentioned in the papers - the statute of limitation is being changed to 3 years from 6 - coincidence? maybe, but then I am a conspiracy theorist at heart.
And there was me thinking that the Govt. had been elected to represent the majority of people in this country, rather than the small minority of people who happen to be directors of banks.0 -
ok so how do i go about starting to ask the nationwide back the charges i have been getting from them?

Do the step by step guide in Martins email , dated 7th March.full instructions are given there .Also check out site https://www.bankactiongroup.co.uk as there is tons of usefull information there and people who have already started action against Banks keeping people informed of how it is going.Wish I could stop editing EVERY post I make :mad:0 -
From when would the statute of limitations change come into effect?
It does seem strange that the government is siding with the rich and influential. What makes them prefer the interests of people who "donate" millions of pounds, are probably related and went to the same school over you and me? I vote too. Strange isnt it?And if, you know, your history...0
