hi i have been with abbey national since i was about 3.
im 24 now, and am at the point where i am SO sick of this bank and the treatment i recieve from them, i am looking for help and support.
abbey national will not give me an overdraft, a credit card or a loan, yet will quickly put my account overdrawn with their interest charges or even just charges of £30, and then charge me a further £30 for going overdrawn.
i recently won some money from a magazine, £2500 to be exact, and before the cheque had even cleard £140 had been taken by abbey, and then a charge was put on of £30 because i had insufficient funds in my account... even though i had a cheque of over 2 grand waiting to clear. this is just one example.
any ideas on what to do next?:TThe places i have been so far: Palma, Tunis, Rome, Corsica, St.Raphael, Naples, Pompeii, Barcelona, Villefranche, Ajaccio, Livorno, Genoa, Madiera, Martinique, St Maartens, St Kitts, St Vincents, Dominica, Barbados, Antigua, Tortola, Jealous anyone????? :T0 -

Bank Action Group mentioned on Working Lunch and url posted onscreen. Could get a lot more hits now...:j:T
I saw it - but didn't hear it (no sound card at work).
Fantastic news - again!
(oddly, it hasn't made that much difference to the hits to the site - btw - that's just over 2 million hits since the beginning of March - thanks in no small part to MSE!!!)0 -
DChurch - There was a small story on BBC Radio 1's newsbeat at lunchtime on how somebody had "luckily" got £2k back from Lloyds TSB because the bank forgot to file defence.
I hope you do not mind but I emailed them and advised that this was not one persons luck but in fact was happening commonly eachday due to the information now being made on the internet. I did refer to BAG website but ensured they knew that I was in no way affiliated with it. I mentioned that your website has a lot of information and may be of interest to them due to the audience and listener base that they have.
Anyway - have a listen at https://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/news.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Yep - get a list of all the charges incurred over the last 6 years, use the information on this thread and on https://www.bankactiongroup.com and then claim everypenny back.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I don't mind at all - the BBC really should talk to other 'news' teams - the Working Lunch seemed to know all about it ;-)0 -
I've sent DPA Letters (Data Protection Act) to 3 of out banks because of their charges. Gave them the standard 40 day's time to send me all the information. If they don't, I will be informing the correct authorites stated in the BAG website.
I aim to claim everything off them, they take and steal. It's not right.0 -
Hi all. I've just handed my local HSBC branch my first letter (in what I expect to be many) to claim back over £2000 in charges + interest. Totalling over £2500. I've requested my statements and transactions over the past 6 years. I'm expecting to have to go 'all the way' with HSBC, so-to-speak. However, as my accounts are over 6 years old, when should I calcuate the start date from? Fees occur in March 2000, but as weeks/months go by these may get 'punted' off the 6 year limit, am I right?
I've read on here a few peoples experiences with HSBC - has anybody successfully claimed large amounts like mine back from HSBC? I couldn't see any...
Cheers,
Munki.Nice to save.0 -
wheres the best place to send the letters to the main admin centre or hand into the branch?0
