Bank Charges - illegal?

Wow, I got my statements from Lloyds this morning, and I had totally forgot I was unemployed for a period when I had this account and was claiming job seekers allowance! So this can only surely help my case
It clearly shows XXXXXXXXX JSAGB £42 or £84 paid fortnightly. This was very quick considering he said 3 weeks and I got that letter last week. Well, excel time to prepare a spreadsheet with a list of charges then find out how to add the interest on as well.

You will appreciate that in doing we do not accept that there is any force in the points that you make. We are taking this course in order to bring our relationship with you to an end as soon as possible. I trust you will find this acceptable..

So, they are closing your account with them?
...because you stood up for your legal rights?
I would report them to the Financial Ombudsman.0 -

Why are you closing your account?0

because, I am working toward reducing available credit to me. Dont need as much credit as available. Have 2 other clear credit cards and a third in the process of being cleared.
The letter that they have sent has said that I requested it, which I did, but it was them who asked me to close it. I am contemplating writing back saying that I accepted the closure on the basis that they were illegally charging but that would be mouting a legal challenge against the whole bank..I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I don't think this has been asked
What about future charges?
Should I claim them back, if they occur, immediatly - one by one - or wait til a number of them mount up? Or would an action against my bank stop them from applying charges in the future? (wishful thinking!)Wedding Professional0 -
I think this is becoming academic - most banks now close the accounts of those standing up for their legal rights.0

help
I assume this is the letter that says give me £x as a refund of charges or else in 14 days time matey......
Why not put something in like:
" I require a refund of all charges made to date, which I calculate to be £x, but should any further charges be made to my account in the meantime, those will be taken in to account when legal proceedings are initiated"?
I sent my letter off yesterday asking for the £2300 back and giving them 14 days. Am really nervous now as its not my account but hubby's. I did warn him that he may have to close his account but his attitude is that if they play funny so-and-sos then he'll close the business account as well!2014 Target;
