SuperMum2008, I am a bodyshop consultant and was interested in going round a few fairs, displaying some products and hopefully getting some christmas gift orders, do you think this sort of thing would go down well at the fairs or is it normally all crafty stuff?? I know a few other girls who have gone to fairs up the north coast and generally say it goes down ok. Thank!! x x x

Hi Sparky - Ive done a few fairs now and they area real mixed bag. They have either been strict craft fairs full of home made items like candles, bedspreads, hats/bags, jewellery or they have been more general where almost anything goes. However even at the strict craft ones, there is usually a more bric-a-brac stall so I still havent got to the bottom of this! Some of the ones we have done have been delighted to have our full range of stuff which is a mixture of fair trade and then high street fancy dress costumes and hair accessories, some others have asked for only the fair trade ones.

I really dont see why you couldnt do a stall of bodyshop items - the only thing I would say is people seem to either want something unusual that cant be bought on the high street, or they want something less unusual at a bargain price. We are able to sell our costumes and hair accessories at a really competitive price, and the fair trade stuff is more unusual, so we do ok either way, but I suppose it might affect whether you think it is worth it? There would be no harm in getting your foot in through the door and trying a few stalls out. Get in quick though, on the list I have above, as many are now booked up.

Let us know how you get on!
