  • How are the craft fairs going ladies? Would love to be doing one myself but just havent had the time to make some stuff to sell!

Maybe next year someone would be interested in teaming up to split the price of a stall?

I would usually pay£20 maybe £25. £40 seems way too steep!
Itsmylife, I have shared a table in the past, and its a great idea in theory.
Some organisers wont let you do it but I just find that half a table isnt a big enough area for my work Depends on the size of what you are selling so maybe you'd beOk but mine are framed pictures, quite bulky and hard to display. Also I have begun to realise that they are too expensive for craft fairs. After all, you go to spend £5 not £50 right?
I'd be interested to hear othrs opinions on this as well.
    Arty.
PS. I met "SuperMum " on Saturday and can report that she is as friendly and helpful in real life as in her virtual life!

  • Linn Primary School in Larne are having one on 28 November. No more details, but contact the school and they should be able to help.
  • Arty Tarty - LOL!!! Thankyou for your comments and ditto to you too! it is funny meeting you all and putting a face to the alter egos!!! WE had a great time at the Loughview fair and can recommend it for next year if you are selling smaller items in the £1 to £20 range I would think - unless anyone else has any thoughts? I think I will try to add more details onto the list of what we found at the fairs we have done to help for next year - if anyone else wants to add too that would be fab.

Busy Busy - re the price of a stall - £40?????? FORTY POUNDS?????? I think that's outrageous! The most I have ever paid is £25 and I have often haggled to try and get it cheaper as you never know what kind of crowd you are going to get. I was asked to give £20 or 20% plus a donation to the tombola recently and had to bite my tongue, and haggled as I didnt want to be sharing with the world how much my takings were. Perhaps others here might have some thoughts too? I would expect a £40 one to be a really professional affair that has been very heavily promoted.

Ive also learned that it is really useful to know what other stalls are going to be at the fair. If they say "russian underwater basket weavers and garden gnomes from Peru" that might be more you sort of thing than others, and it is helpful to know!!

Itsmylife - Re sharing a stall - I think its a great idea if you can find things that complement each other - you would need to decide re the cash box though - if people lift two items from 2 different sellers on one stall how do you split the money - we do it on ours, and we just rely on memory (we must be mad!) and splitting money from one to the other - it works for us but is something else to be trying to think about in all the hussle and bustle!

Thanks to Indigos Mum re the one above too - will add to the list.
Feel free to thank me, it makes my toes tingle and my ears go warm :T

oh yes, I'm still going, Wondering now if I should have taken the chance to pull out though. I dont think my stuff will sell:(
SuperMum, any chance of you bringing one of those felted ball bags along?
I regret not buying one from you the other day but I was only helping Bev out. I made no money, in fact I spent £2 on raffle tickets and another £5 on a ticket for the Brian Ballard painting! Duh!
