    Hi all!
Just looking for some advice. One of my new downlines really wants to do an AVon party but I have no experience in this and was wondering what advice to give her!
    Thanks

I've never done a party before, but I've read tips and stuff :)

Buy a few things from the book, common things people buy like sss and anew and a perfume or whatever. And buy some things from HT. Then display these things. Have loads of books and order forms (obviously depending how many people will be at the party). Then someone before has suggested if you know someone that can do make up well or manicures, rope them in and charge the guests a small amount (£2/3) for the service (with avon products of course). That way you can make a bit of money even if they don't order. And provide nibbles :D Hope that helps your d/l
  • Has anyone seen the C5 online brochure? Does anyone use it to pre-order stuff? I'm not sure how to get the best out of it, I saw the Christmas cat early then deleted the e-mail as I wasn't sure what I was doing!

carkeyz, are you the one who posted on the avon sales leader forum?

I found this on the website.

    Parties Mean Sales!

Give your Avon business a real boost. A great way to do this is by holding an open house party.
Parties are an informal, fun way to get to know people and find new customers, plus it's a great opportunity to increase your earnings – parties allow you to easily promote special offers and new products. Parties also enable customers to see the products – far better than only relying on the picture in the brochure.

Invite your family, friends, work colleagues, customers and people who have not ordered yet - ask everyone to ‘bring a friend’ – they will feel more comfortable and you may gain more customers.

If you have been a Representative for a while, you will be surprised just how many products you have around the home, but you can always add to what you have by ordering demonstration products from Hello Tomorrow. Remember – customers who try, buy!

Here are some useful questions and answers to help you host a successful party and boost your sales and earnings.

    Q. Where should I hold my party?
    A. Hold the party in your own home, or you could ask one of your customers to use their home if it is more conveniently situated. If you do hold your party at someone else’s home, be sure to offer them a gift or a small discount and be prepared to provide light refreshments

    Q. How long should the party last?
    A. As long as you feel comfortable with; as a guide 1 – 2 hours should be enough.

    Q. How many people should I invite?
    A. Invite as many as you can accommodate, plus a few more. Not everyone will turn up

    Q. When should I give out invitations?
    A. Deliver invitations at least one week before your party.
Communication is key, so remind your guests personally the night before or even on the day.

    Q. When is the best time to hold my party?
A . Chose a date and time that will suit your customers. Depending on whether or not your customers go out to work you can decide if they are more likely to attend a party during the day or in the evening.

    Q. What else will I need?
    A. You will need plenty of Avon brochures and order forms. If you have products for people to try, then tissues or cotton wool could be handy.

    Q. What about refreshments?
    A. Keep it simple. Tea, coffee, soft drinks, maybe a glass of wine – anything will be welcomed, as will crisps or biscuits.

    Q. What should I wear?
    A. Casual clothes that are smart and comfortable. Wear Avon jewellery, make-up and fragrance. Play background music as this will help provide a relaxed atmosphere.

    Q. How can I encourage people to buy on the day?
    A. Talk to them whilst they try the products and when they like a particular product, suggest that they put it on their order form so that they don’t forget it later. Remind them about the Avon guarantee.

How do I set up a display?

    1. Clear the display area required. A dining table would be fine.

    2. Using boxes or cubes, build a pyramid shape. This will be used to display your products.

    3. Cover the boxes with a cloth. Tuck in any rough edges.

    4. Always display products starting at the top of the pyramid and work downwards. Separate different categories into different areas, e.g. fragrance, skincare, make-up, men’s products.

    5. When displaying each group, use the tallest product first, working down in size to create a pyramid shape.

    6. Having positioned all of the products, add props to complete the display image, e.g. Christmas – garlands / baubles, Easter – daffodils; summer – sea-shells.

    this is from Flissys

Parties (copied from bless its sexy mel's thread on other forum)

The most important thing is to get people there, bums on seats!

Dont be scared, if you know a bit about Avon products you will be fine.

Find a suitable venue, you might throw the party yourself or do it for a customer or friend. Is their lounge big enough?

You might want to give the hostess an incentive for holding the party e.g. 10% of all orders placed, 10% off her own order, a free gift, you might also give her £5 for any people who sign up to be a rep payable when they place their first order above mov.

Go to see the Hostess a few days before the event, and check everything is OK and that she has given out invites and knows how many are coming. It might be best if she checks that everyone is still coming on the day or the day before the event and tells them to all bring cash or cheque books with them.

Have a look at the room your using and plan in your mind where you are going to put everything, discuss it with the hostess.

Discuss if you are having a themed party, like a Hawaiian night or something and have cocktails with little umbrellas in during the summer etc to draw in people or a Xmas theme where you concentrate on Xmas gifts or decorations, summer theme - suntan cream, Mothers Day - gifts, Makeup party - makeup, Pyjama party - pyjamas, jewellery and underwear. Wrinkly party - anew products etc etc etc. You can get your demo products out of the link brochure.

Also at this time leave a few catalogues with 6 order forms for her friends who cannot come to party.

And a big idea is tell her you are looking for 2 parties out of the event, if you go with this mind set you will never run out of dates...And tell her if you book two or more parties at her event, and they follow through, she can pick a further gift at around £X.XX (remember you get it at a cheaper rate)Also ask her who she thinks would like a party.

If you know anyone like a beautician or a hairdresser masseuse or aromatherapist/reflexologist that can come to help you to add something to the party invite them, they might do it in exchange for a freebie or a percentage!

On the day of the party arrive early about 45 mins before and set up your table, if you are in the living room put it in front of the tv, the reason is this is where all the chairs face!!!!! Bring with you plenty of catalogues, order forms and pens, pens are important. Have a table set up for display and take advance orders from the link mag. Get a nice table cloth or material to cover the table with and maybe some small boxes to put under the cloth to display things on, you might also want to use fritter or confetti type stuff on the table to make it look cute.

Start on time, introduce yourself, Avon the company, how they use quality products, been around a long time, explain the guarantee etc etc. You might find now is a good time to say how long you have been with Avon and that you are a sales leader and looking for new reps etc.

Do a quick game (I have a list of pary games and the alternative uses list if you want them email me) if needed to get the barriers down. Games that are linked to products are good because it helps you to shift them.

The best game cos it gets more sales is the alternative uses game. I take a cucumber and ask them for alternative uses, when they have done being rude I bring out some SSS soft and fresh (green one) dry oil body spray and ask them what alternative uses they can think of. Then I give them the alternative uses list. The list covers the dry oil spray and the bath oil but its important that you say Avon do not support the alternative uses its just what people have discovered over the years. - Let them know what page the product is on in the brochure.

Hand out catalogues, order forms and pens. On the note section of the order form put 'Are you interested in knowing more about joining my team? Y/N This will put the thought in their mind and you might get leads. If you have the room you might also put 'Are you interested in having a party of your own' y/n

Now is a good time if you are doing a mini facial or anI instant manicure demo to do it so you can talk through these products.

Go through some items and explain them to the the people.

If you are testing perfum, use blotting paper or something to spray it onto. Reason is perfum smells different on everyone and two people sitting next door to each other may use same stuff, but it will smell very different on each person. Also if you have 10 people in a small room and they all spray it you won't be able to breathe after.

If you are letting them test skincare items, use disposible items for them to sample the creams with. Do not let them stick fingers into the pots ever. You can get little spatulas free from Avon (they look like icecream spoons that come with screwballs).

Answer any questions people may have. Leave everyone to look through the brochures and fill in their order forms.

At the end of your demonstration you should talk through what they get as a hostess if they have their own party (be sure to offer them the same deal as you have given their hostess e.g. 10% etc).

Go into kitchen and help hostess make drinks, snacks. Dont put the nibbles out until everything to touch/feel has been passed round - you dont want peanut crumbs in your samples.
A tip here do not let the hostess go over board on this, tea, coffee, sauasage rolls, biscuits etc, boring I know, but there is a reason for this, nearly everyone can afford tea, coffee, and biscuits , Sausage rolls, if you let your hostess go mad on food, then the single mum who is in the next room, who might be thinking hey I might like to have a party, as it will help me get some presents for my children this christmas, will suddenly be put off cos in her mind she is think, oh no, there is no way I can do a party I cannot afford all this food. You have just lost a party hostess. Silly I know but people think like that.

Go back into room, and mingle with the guests, answer questions, tell them of offers in the book.

To get their attention back at the end you could do a raffle or have a bargain bin (a box of stuff you got cheap or free that you sell for a couple of pounds each - get the money there and then).

Collect Orders, Explain how the delivery will work...... best way is deliver everything to hostess on a set day, and on that day you will pick everyones money up. Tell everyone who orders they need to let the hostess have the money by XYZ day. Its best to collect the money at the party if you can then the hostess doesn't have to deal with it all and also you won't see the people again (more than likely).

Throughout the whole event you are looking for people who would make good party hostesses or reps or sales leaders. Remember two is the magic number from each party.

    Happy partying.

    and this

This is a great way to start your party! Give one or two small gifts to two guests, and read the following story. Each time the word “left” or “right” is mentioned, they pass the gift in that direction. Whoever is left holding the gifts keeps them.

I left my house and was on my way to (___hostess’ name__) house. But I soon discovered I had left my directions at home, right by the phone! Well, I knew right away that I needed to have the right directions to (hostess’ name) house, so I turned left and I turned left and I turned right and made my way back to my house for the right directions. Sure enough, there they were, right where I had left them, right next to the phone.

Finally, I was on the right track. I arrived right on time and set up my Avon goodies right over here. You all arrived and sat down. I’m going to get right to work and tell you about AVON I hope nothing will be left out. In a moment I’ll show you a few of our beautiful products, and even help you choose your favourite scent in our new line of Bath & Body products. If you left home with the intention of shopping for gifts tonight, you’ll find we have the right gift for everyone. Think about upcoming birthdays and holidays, we don’t want anyone left out. I’d be happy to help you find the right gift for that special someone.

AVON has a no quibble guarantee policy. When your merchandise comes in please check it right away. If something is not right please call me right away and you can be sure I will take care of it right away. You don’t want to be left with something you are not 100% satisfied with, right? If you’d like to be a hostess and earn FREE and discounted merchandise, or if this is the right time for you to explore joining talk to me.
I’m enjoying being here with all of you tonight and I hope you are having fun, too. I know you can’t wait to see if we have that special item you have been looking for, so without further delay I will get right to the point of this party, which is showing you our great products! So, there is really nothing left for me to do except congratulate the winner….. Right?
