Hello, was wondering if anyone has ever made avon xmas hampers to sell to your customers? Was thinking of ordering some bits and pieces and making up baskets with straw, cellophane, lots of ribbon etc. Also, are we actually allowed to do this? Was also thinking of selling these at fetes, boot sales, ebay etc. Anyone know if this is allowed?

I spent a couple of evenings a few weeks ago making up 25 hampers. I bought somes tuff when it was on offer - Skin so soft 5 for £5 etc, and the others I made using stuff from the Anew bonus bags, which I obtained through creative ordering! I also put necklaces and lipsticks etc in them. I had also bought some Anew sets for £3 in the online offers section, and some bonus bags which contained Anew clinical face lift, lipstick, Ungaro shower gel etc, at £5 each, and they came with a nice oval toiletries bag - so I actually used the cosmetic bags instead of a basket for some of the gift sets.

I have sold some to relatives, and some to my sisters work and up to now I have sold about 7 baskets, bringing in over £100. I will be doing a car boot in a couple of weeks - I hope to sell the rest then. Any that are left I will use in future as raffle prizes.

Don't know if you have a Morrisons near you, but in the home section there, they sell lovely seagrass hampers which fit Anew stuff in, and they are only 99p. These are nice, as the person who gets them as a gift can re-use them.
  • Thanx pugsley_h yes i do have morrisons near me so will have a look in there next week. I have quite a few bits and pieces i have got from creative ordering over past few camps and have just put additional order in for few things that were on offer. I do actually have some toiletries bags i ordered couple months ago so may bag these up as well as the baskets! Have ordered enough stuff to make up about 25 sets(not all the same!) although I only have about 10 regular customers. Thought I may take a few and recanvas hoping if i make them look really good people may be interested and could therefore be potential long term customers! Just not sure if i am allowed to knock on peoples door and sell these there and then as you aren't allowed to with money maker (or have i got this wrong?)

I always run 3 special promotions in the run up to Christmas. In Campaign 16 (October) I donate 20% of my sales to Avon Breakthrough Breast Cancer Charity, then in Campaign 17 I hide a red sticker (Rudolph's nose) on one of the pages and get customers to note the page number on the order form. They then receive 20% discount. Finally in Campaign 18 every customer who spends over £10 in entered into a raffle for a Xmas Hamper I make up using products from HT and sale brochures etc.

It has been really successful and I think that the discount in Campaign 17 really encourages customers to spend that little bit more because they know they are saving 20% at an expensive time of year.

I think that you are supposed to wait 24 hours between them ordering something and the actual time they receive the product. You could always take one round as a sample, and then print off a little brochure showing the others - they can take a look and order what they want, and you can deliver it the next day, or when you take the orders round. You may find though, that people may buy a basket off you, but may not order out of the brochure as well. I think some people look through with a maximum spend limit of say £15 - and will not spend more than that - so if they buy a basket off you at £15, they may not order products as well. My sister in law did this last week - she bought £40 worth of baskets off me - but then didn't bother looking through the book, as she had already spent her limit. Some people won't mind and will get both - but it is something to be aware of. This is the reason why I haven't shown the brochure round my territory - just friends and family, as I don't want to risk losing sales when I am so close to PC.

But, all customers are different - I stopped trying to second guess mine months ago - as I am always wrong lol!

Elliebee - What are these monthly meetings you go to about. I've never been invited to one and would love to meet some fellow Avon reps in my area?

It is called a Call In, and your ASM or SL should have told you about them. They are optional and held once a month, but a chance to meet other reps and have a chat and also where they hold demonstrations and other things.

PM me your postcode, will look to see when your call ins are.

    Hey
I dont have them in my area (605) because my ASM is based in Nothampton and I am Buckinghamshire but apparently my area is the worst in the contry for Avon so thats why we dont have an asm here!

  • This might be a really stupid question but the customer mobile phone offer in C18 doesnt actually have a mobile phone with it does it? I think I read it wrong and put on my flyers that it did. Looks like I will have to type something out to apologise for mistake and go round my customers tomorrow.
