Ive got a meeting with an avon sales manager person (whatever they called lol) on friday so hoping to start then! I am a bit worried because i am not a very 'forward' person so a bit scared to just knock on doors and ask people!
Was thinking of doing some flyers or something to deliver/leave in local shops with my details on to contact me if they want avon - do you reckon thats a good idea? Should i order them now, or wait and see if i can actually ebcome a rep?
Any tips will be welcomex
Hi Mrs P
Don't worry, neither am I! If you don't feel comfortable about door knocking, then why not just put brochures through the doors with a friendly note introducing yourself as their new Avon Lady, and saying when you'll collect. It seemed to work for me.
I definitely wouldn't do flyers - I put out over 150 and not one reply , but when I dropped brochures at 40 of the same houses, I got four orders. I think once people see a book, they'll be tempted to order, but they can't be bothered to ring up.'Better to ask a silly question than to make a silly mistake' Elliebee's Mum

has anyone got an email address to contact AVON?
I just tried to register online and it first said my DOB didnt match their records.. and thinking i might have put it in wrong i tried again and its said "authenticiation attempts have reached the maximum number, please call" there was no number.... but i just tried "fast-trak" and was told there was a 25 minute wait!
Johanne - it said that on mine too, I was told it just says that until your account is set up properly. It took mine a week to work after signup (exactly how long my ASM said it would take!). So don't worry too much, how long have you been waiting so far?MrsPitcher2b wrote: »Hey everyone!

Welcome to the family!
Don't worry too much about not being foward, most people seem to just drop them in the doors to start off with. My ASM wanted me to door knock but I didn't feel courageous enough so just dropped them through the letterbox! (If we do that we usually put our own notes with them to say when we'll be collecting them.) Now though only 2 weeks later I'm feeling much more confident, so if I have to knock on a door to collect a catalogue, I'm also asking them if they'd like to continue receiving it.
Some abbreviation explanations for you...!
ASM/AM = Area Sales Manager - the people employed by Avon directly who allocate areas, recruit people, and canvass sometimes themselves!
SL = Sales Leader - self employed person who recruits reps.
PC = Presidents Club - many benefits for super sales reps!
HT = Hello Tomorrow - the Rep magazine you get with demo products and clearance offers.
Hope this helps!0 -
Ill add the abrievations to the first thread if anyone wants? any others that may be useful?
My orders in tonight, met mov but not by much - just about to start on the xmas books on my round.
Still awaiting replies from my avon manager about territory.
Ive emailed avon a few times and I actually find them very quick to respond, and usually helpful.:j Debt-Free-Wannabe! :jDeclutter/Ebay/Savings0 -

not a week ....i was just enthusiastic lol
i dropped my first brochures today on the way to my mums... only one minor blip.. i have a book left out of my 30 i was dropping but according to my records i dropped to 30 houses!I had the baby with me so was distracted so suppose i'll just knock on the doors that dont leave brochures out on collection day and find out where i went wrong then when one house says "what avon book?"
:rotfl: :rotfl:
But i definetly posted 29 out and on my way home no one had left them out tonight so no one seems to have dismissed them completely!:D :rotfl:
Oh and i hope i didnt offend my 2 single male neighbours when i added an extra slip with their books sayin "AVON IS NOT JUST FOR WOMEN.TURN TO PAGE 168 FOR OUR GREAT MENS RANGE! AND DONT FORGET OUR GREAT RANGE OF GIFTS FOR OTHERS!"0 -
Jo, I don't see what's offensive about your note. Also the Avon territory mapping isn't infallible. One of my roads apparently only has three houses, but there are actually seventeen - it's not like they are new, they are the oldest houses round here by over 150 years!!!! I double checked with the ASM and they are definitely all mine.
Also the shops one one of my roads are included as houses, and there is nothing between 12 and 20 on another of them - Avon don't know this either! I would trust your judgement more than Avon...
...it's not your own road is it? One of my reps said her street was one house smaller and she'd forgotten that her own house was included  If not, I find the postcode checker on royal mail useful, just don't use a house number and it brings up every house in the street0 -
So how'd you get on?! Excited prospective SL's want to know!
Only just got home! Coz they were down in slough. I had 3 signups plus I got to see my brother who lives there so that was nice.
The signups went really well, I think all 3 of them could be good, they were really friendly and switched on, asked insightful questions etc.
I've got 3 more tomorrow so have to log off now, wish me luck for those too! :rotfl:

i think most benefits you would need to tell them youre doing avon.
I do know that whilst claiming incapacity benefit you are allowed to work under 16 hours a week or earn less than £80 odd a week, which ever comes first. Anything over that and it effects your incapcity benefit. Also they only allow you to do this permitted work for 52 weeks, then your incapacity benefit stops.
Job seekers is means tested so Id imagine theyd take avon earnings into account, as is income support.
Tax credits is also means tested so I think that would be the same.
Disability living allowence isnt means tested so doign avon wouldnt effect the money you get from them.
RE: Tax and NI, its not going to be worth doing avon if im paying out them as well!! Robbing gits!
I had someone ring me today, shed been into a shop where i leave a book, the dmb man in the shop gave her my avon book and avon order! Turns out shes an ASM and got my number off the order form and phoned me to say do i still do avon and do i want this order or can she put it in for herself. I said yes i do avon, yes shes my customer and yes give me my order please! Which she did do. I told her i have been selling avon to the female owner of the shop for sometime. She told me shes an ASM on the other side of the city and decided to canvass shops all over to gain more customers! Im going to be calling in the shop and telling them to make sure they do not give the avon book to anyone other than me!! and if they are not sure to ring me!0 -

The advice you've given is right and wrong Mousie - please don't think I'm having a go, because I'm not, its broadly right, but not entirely correct, anyone in this situation PLEASE PM ME THE DETAILS as it's not right in all circumstances, especially not incapacity benefits, and anyone who goes about it wrong could be in for serious grief.
The national insurance thing, I'm not 100% I'm right, so like I say, call them and ask
Mousie, at least that ASM let you know she'd got the order and given it to you, but she needs to be careful, ASMs aren't allowed to take sales 'out of area'.0 -
Yay Kat! :T:j You're flying girl!
Oh, how I wish I could drive...
PS) where abouts in Slough?0
