  • Lynnsmith - I think it works in your faour if you can mix customer orders up to get the discounts (like in your example with the 2 for 4) as they will pay the higher value, but you only pay the lower value less your commission! Think they call it 'creative ordering' on here!

andrea1985 - not sure about the bargain bags but would assume you get your commission as normal. The order values for the free samples / bonuses have recently been reduced and now match the minimum and higher order values - £78 for the basic freebies and lower commission, then £148 for the extra freebies and higher commission.

    Hope this helps!!

    Hello there ladies;
Just wanted to say hi, as I've just submitted my first order (from friends, family, and work) for camp 14 and I've submitted £211.15 worth (first HOV of many! I hope) :D I've just been looking through all the hints and tips and may I say thank you to all of you who have submitted them (in case I use any, it's always nicer to thank other people for their ideas).

I have a slight problem - my confidence..... :o I'm not the most outgoing of people and I really want to hit the HOV for C15 as well and I have my territory and I know I really should canvass it-- but what is the best time of the day do you think? As if I get stopped I know I'm just going to crack and make an idiot of myself....I always think I'm doing something wrong even when I know I'm just giving people something to look at.....
    Any ideas luvelys?

    Thanks, Samantha

Hi Samantha and welcome to the increasingly adictive world of AVON! And well done on such a great first campaign!!

With regards to your confidence issue, join the club! I know loads of us avonners who are shy or have post natal depression or anxiety etc - seems to be an ongoing theme that avon helps get you out of the house and out of your shell!!

That said, I don't do any kind of sales pitch or anything - just shove the book through the door with a little intro or newsletter! I shocked myself when I got the nerve to knock for books that had been left out!!

Re bargain bags - if you mean the one from the customer sale booklets.. they a a "fixed discount" item so you dont get your 20/25% commission... you get about 60p commission only i think from memory!? AND they cant be returned if opened!!

whenever customers have ordered them from me they have been full of items that have been discontinued or from clearance.

Hi to all the newbies posting on this forum, welcome to a happy family.

Kill Bill, yes there are male reps and some extremely successful Sales Leaders as well. My SL told me about one that she heard about at the "Live the Dream" Weekend, and he is extremely successful.

Sameace83, I suffer from PND (post natal depression, got it very late) and my confidence was knocked for six. I have now been doing Avon since March and must say it has helped my confidence. I used to just drop the books through people's letterboxes, because then I didn't have to talk to them. I was so scared the first time I had to knock to get my books back. I did though, and got most back and it was great for my confidence.

Now I am more confident that I actually ask people if they want to see a book and have signed upto be a Sales Leader, so will need to be confident to get reps to sign up! LOL.

It will come, just give it time :D

Lynnsmith, yes you need to do "canny ordering". That means if two different customers have ordered something that qualifies for an offer, ie 2 for £4, you submit the items under this offer, and charge your customers the full amount as on their order form, or if you are feeling generous, you might offer them a 10% discount on their total order, but you aren't actually paying the discount, so you won't be out of pocket.

When you save your order, before submitting the final order on your due date, if you click on the tab "view my order", this shows your order to date. If you scroll down to the bottom, it should say show subtotal. If you click on this, this will show you how much you are actually going to be charged by Avon and your Discount. It will also show if the system has taken into account the two separate orders under the offer.

  • Thanks for such a lovely response! I'm really shy but I may take a few out with me tomorrow and the OH has said he'll help as well:D

Just a little question if I may? How do avon calculate the total HOV? is it just from your regular order or do any additional orders count? (I have a main order, but if someone sees something two days later and I put that order through for the campaign will that count as well?)

    Hi Samantha :o

Each order you place needs to meet MOV or HOV for you to qualify for commission. So if you placed an additional order for £10 you wouldn't earn anything and you have to pay £2.50 P&P for additional orders as well so try and make sure you get all your orders in before you place your main order.

Your MOV/HOV is made up of brochure products, HT products plus any brochures etc you order but you will only earn commission on brochure products xx

    just want to know ?

coz when u go into department stores you find men working on the makeup and perfume counters

the lady who recruited me said that our area rep is a 21 year old man.
    wasn't expecting that.

I think you have been given the old targets. They changed recently so you now only have to get £78 each campaign for the level 1, and £148 for level 2

i think i should check on this as it was less than a wk ago i was told it was £250, would be great if it is only £148, atleast i would be in with a chance of reaching this target.

  • Hi I have been reading through the thread for the past few days, as i am thinking of joining Avon. As far as im aware we do not have a rep in my area last got a book about 6 months ago and said to them i would like to recieve them every time. But havent seen one since.
I am just looking to earn some extra money for myself i currently work full time and my salary from that pays for everything houshold wise (my parnter is currently unemployed).

One of the only things that is putting me off is all the stories you hear of people not making any money and spending hours walking the streets. I cant take the books into work as someone all ready does that i do like the idea of going to Drs, Hairdressers etc as i live very close to my town centre.

How many hours do most people put in on each campain ? Also after paying extra tax on your earnings does it work out worthwhile.
How many houses do you normally get in you patch?
I am really thinking seriously of joining and think i would enjoy it but still slightly unsure.

Thanks in advance for any information and sorry for the long post.

    Hi littledevil

I work from home only on Avon, and other things like surveys and mystery shopping, so for me it is about being registered as self employed.

Someone will be along who does avon as well as having a full time job and should be able to answer your questions about tax, etc.

I think the amount of hours people put into their own campaigns vary. I personally do not make as much as other people on this board, but then my territory is one of those where a lot of people don't want a book and there are about 6 other reps living in my area. Which is why I have been branching out and asking the library, hairdressers, etc if they would like a book. This is working for me and has raised my earnings.
