Essexgirl, is there another rep working in your area? Has she been known to come onto the territory assigned to you? That is strange to take the order form and leave the book, you would think she would have taken both, if it is another rep.
Avon can be slow to pick up with territories. I started on C6/C7 and am now on C15, and on C14 got my biggest order to date. My SL even asked ME how I did it and to pass on the tips to her. So, I think it is a case of bearing with it. I have started picking up more customers as they are seeing the books on a regular basis and now deciding to order. One customer who is housebound with MS told me she will be looking to order for Christmas. So I know I will definitely get some orders from her too.0 -
I'm also an Avon rep. did it about 4 years ago and didn't get much support from asm. so gave it up after 5 months.
this time, 3 days before C12 orders had to be in (and 2 days before we were going on holiday) an asm signed me up and I made the MOV. since then I've beaten my HOV each time. currently working C15.
I include an a5 flyer that I create on pc in each issue, telling them about what's going on and when i'll deliver etc. and on the back of it i have my "favourite fives" which is a list of 5 offers in the campaign I think they'll like. I am also running an offer of a free gift with every order over £20 between now and christmas. I am also running a christmas prize draw (raffle) to win a gift bag of goodies (things i have bought for less than £1 each in clearance) in C17 & C18, on top of the free gift, when they order £20 or more..
so far i've only had 1 customer who has messed me about. I called to deliver her order and she said she hadn't been out and didn't have the money, so could I call back, so I agreed to call back 2 days later, when collecting books, to find she'd left a note by the front door saying she wouldn't have the money until the end of the month as she is self employed.
i wouldn't have minded so much, but my tel number and email address is on the order forms, slips inside the books and on the cards to say "i've called round"..
and she was the one who'd asked me to call as a specific time..
on the plus side, i've got some lovely customers, and a couple of them who order every time with orders of atleast £15 each. one lady always tells me how impressed she is with me and that she's always telling her daughter what a great job i do.. lol
oh if you have a wilkinson's near you, the wilko smart price small sandwich bags are 14p for 50 and are the perfect size for the brochures :money:Missysx

Hello my fellow avon reps.
I need a little bit of advice please! I have only done one full campaign of avon and have already have had enough for a number of reasons:
1) customers messing me about with orders
2) not giving books back
3) my area is far away, it takes me 20 mins to walk there, a struggle when you have a big bag of books to deliver or orders and have to go back because of customers who wont leave books out.
4) i start college on thursday and dont see how avon is going to fit into it.
The last campaign i did my mom helped me so took me there in the car etc. so i could get the feel for it. But now i am on my own with this one so i have to walk in the rain there now.
On the plus side i do enjoy having a good chat with the customers, and i love Avon products and it is extra money i need.
Does anyone else have a full time job, and do avon. How do you fit it all in???
Thank you :-)0 -
Hi I work full-time, as well as being a rep and a sales leader - don't worry the first few campaigns are the worst....onc ethey are out of the way things get much easier.....you already know which houses you don't get books back from - so miss those out from now on.......any customers that mess you about....I let me customers know what day I am delivering & give my contact details so they can rearrange if necessary....anyone who isn't in gets a "sorry I missed you letter, please ring to rearrange etc"....if they don't bother to contact me, then I return their order - simple as, otherwise they will keep messing you about!
If you find customers don't leave the book out on the right day - maybe try just popping a note through saying to call/text/email you with any orders rather than calling back to get their books...yes you would loose books, but would that be easier for calling back again on another day to collect a book with no order in???
I know it sounds daft - but maybe get a little shopping trolley so that you don't have to carry your books - I do this when delivering a lot as I have bad shoulders so is better for me....they shouldn't cost too much, maybe even someone might have a second hand one!
If you did get a trolley, then you might find it easier to buy more books (yes it would cost more)...but would mean that you haven't got to do as many trips...and once you know who is interested and who isn't then you can reduce the number you buy.....
A good tip is to package all your books exactly the same - then you will know if someone has looked at the book or not!Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -
I took over a successful round from a lady that had been doing it for 16 years. A young girl did it for a few campaigns but gave up for personal reasons. Anyway at short notice I stepped in and have delivered my brochures to all on the list and am now picking up and putting out the next lot. My SM called last week and gave me a list of territory with 186 houses but only about 10 actually take a book from my list. Yes I had planned on recanvassing all the roads again but in my time. Live in a village and I know of 2 others that do Avon to friends and family.
Anyway tonight after collecting books Sm calls to say that they have signed someone else to the village and need to give her territory but system down. So she has given her the street where she lives minus the 2 I do one of whom is a friend of mine. I live at the other side of the village and old avon lady stays almost in next street to new girl signed.
What will happen. I am not bothered about her taking territory she can go back over the streets but I have just gotten a brand new housing estate that will have 40 houses and it not far from where she lives. Also want to keep all the people that were loyal to other Avon lady . They been mucked about enough. Had planned on doing a couple of fundraiser with playgroup etc but I think she might have children toddler aged or playgroup aged. Will they make me consolidate territory and hand over some of my more successful streets.I have never met a calorie yet I didn't like!!0 -
Hi, Has anyone ever done a xmas fayre? My town is having a late night xmas shopping event and i'm thinking of ordering lots of the perfumes (the cheaper ones when they are on offer and selling for £5 each as a stocking filler. Also maybe getting lots of the naturals stuff and packaging them prettilly for a cheaper alternative.
The only thing is the stall is expensive (for me anyway) at £35, although it is aimed at my whole town (10k people) rather than a school fete etc.
I'm not that bothered about making a huge profit on things, I'm close to PC and want to push up my sales just that little bit.
Has anyone been successful at this type of thing?0 -
Massive rant alert, by the way. You have been warned
So I've just become a sales leader. Which is really brilliant and I'm having great fun signing loads of people up (I seem to be incredibly lucky with getting loads of people. Got 8 signed up already and I only started last week). However, isn't there just always a catch?
First off, I've been desperately trying to find terr for one of my reps, but asm doesn't answer her phone, doesn't have an answer phone and hasn't answered my email. This rep doesn't want to do fand f, so terr is the only way for her to get orders.
Second, I put an ad in the paper thats local to my parents and got 8 responses. Unfortunately they are trendsetters and I'm not. So I contact their asm and she says she'll get me books, then we start talking about prospecting together in the area. I say ok, but when I email her to confirm, she says she doesn't have any books free, but has old ones for me to prospect with....brilliant...just brilliant
Third, I emailed my asm about getting a bit more territory and she's given me loads since my area isn't very good at all. So I'm to whittle them down to whats good, ok, fine. But there are 553 houses according to her. But I went round two streets to get a feel for them, and some of the houses have 10 or more flats. And thats 18 streets with probably the same thing happening at each house. I reckon there's waaay more than 553 and I'm having a minor stroke here, thinking about how I'm gonna get round them
*gasp**die*
Help me?

Have you emailed the dsm? Thats the best way to get the asms to give you territory if they won't respond within 48 hours - are you on flissys? If you are, post on there and someone will know who the dsm is for that area.

Ring avon - you can order books further ahead than you can as a rep - yes you'd have to pay extra for them to be delivered before your next order but would mean you could sign them up - always order as far ahead as possible in the future (yes it means having loads of books lol, for "normal" areas & trendsetters) but then you will always have them in ready in the future. Definately work with as many asm as you can though - I never work with my own lol, get on well with a neighbouring asm who is really helpful.

Don't worry about doing your streets - just work round them as and when you get chance!!! Whenever you find you have books left over due to not signing enough people up - use them on your territory if you have the time x
