You can always keep the door open by popping a note through saying you've sent it back this time, but they are welcome to contact you again when they'll be around more. Lets them know you want them as customers but won't take being messed around.

Grrrrr! I don't believe my customers  I have an email list of 22 people and always send an email a few days before my order goes in to remind them of the deadline. This time I decided to do a competition for a full size pot of Ultimate Night Cream which i got as a freebie for following up a lead from Avon, so i said (in bold font) that i had that to give away to the first person to email me back to claim it. 24 hrs later, no-one had replied, then one lady did reply but with an order and not even mentioning the face cream. I eventually had to email her to ask if she was claiming it

At least i now know who reads my emails...........no-one!!!! I got some satisfaction from sending an email to them, subject line 'congratulations....' and saying that it had been claimed by *** of ***** and that they'd have to be quicker next time :D Perhaps they'll take the trouble to read my emails in future...........but then again, perhaps not!

  • Hi everyone
I am new here and don't know if this is where I should be posting, but as it's an Avon thread I thought you might be able to help me.

How does being a rep affect your tax credits and benefits? I have done avon on and off for years. Since having my son, I have not gone back to work. My partner works full time. If I start back up again, how will is affect us financially? I read that I won't need to pay tax as expected earnings will be below £5000. Also read that I have to register as self-emloyed - will that reduce my tax credits etc? How do you go about declaring your income, becuase it's commission based and so variable? I think I read somewhere that you send off your paper work every 6 campaigns (to relevant ppl eg hmrc, council etc) and they work it out?

Thanks so much for your help.

    Hi Cezz

welcome to the thread. I was a full time mum and partner working full time, I rang tax credits and told them was doing Avon and my expected income at the moment is £50 per month, working 20 hours, because that is based on £200 orders. I never got anywhere near that income, I only used to earn £30 commission and out of that was paying for books and bags, etc.

But I told them and they put it on my records and said to contact them if my income significantly increases.

I have contacted my local Tax office, and registered as self employed, they said I could opt out of paying NI contributions due to low earnings, but I have chosen to pay them.

With housing benefit, you need to submit a self employment income form every 6 months.

Why did you choose to pay the Class 2 when you are exempt? Are you paying the £2 rate or the £8 rate? Are you aware that if you are paying the £2 rate it doesn't go towards your welfare benefits pot? For example if you want to claim Conts based JSA, the years you have been paying £2 rate will not be coubted so unless you are employed and paying NI elsewhere, you will not have paid enough NI to qualify for benefits. If you pay the £8 you will be paying enough

The demo products in HT that you can only buy one of, can you buy one per campaign or only one at that price? I got carried away last time and tried ordering 2 of the straightener mats at £3.50, one for me and one for a friends birthday 2 days after my order was delivered. Obviously I only got 1, so had to give it to my mate, but I desperately want one and getting impatient at having to wait another 5 weeks before I can get one! If I order in my C14 order next week will I get it again do you think?

Hi its me that has to send my info every 6 campaigns but its only to The DWP because im a single mum on income support. Sorry hope my posts about all that havent confused everyone! :o

Before my partner left he worked full time and i was a SAHM so starting avon was really simple. I registered as self employed and rang tax credit to tell them id be earning approx £1000 a year (based on an average of £50 a campaign commission).. they said because it was so low and under 16 hours a week work that it wouldnt affect my tax credit this year... just to declare it on the renewal form at the end of the tax year which i did and as it was it didnt affect it anyway cos i only earnt £598 in the end for the financial year so i lost no tax credit at all :)

Living with a partner thats literally all id say you need to do...... just register as self employed and tell the tax credit people your starting doing avon..... it shouldnt affect this years award at all unless you start raking in thousands in commission! Then just keep your accounts updated for your own sake to make it easy for when once a year you'll do your self assessment form and submit that to the tax man...and when the tax credit renewal comes in you declare your earnings to them then. Simple :)

Its just MY situation because i need to claim income support that means i have to keep the benefits office and/or council updated on my earnings throughout the year so they can adjust my benefits as appropriate.

    Hope that helps!
  • Thanks so much everyne, that's all really helpful :)

I read somewhere that you can put down borchure expenses (and bags etc) as expenses?

yours must say something different to mine then as mine states that : "representatives order online or on page 2 of your C14 order form or on section A of your C15 order form.

trendsetters order online or on page 2 of your C16 order form or section A of your C17 order form."

very very odd - have double / triple checked and it definately says: 'Representatives / Trendsetters order online or on page 2 of your Campaign 17 order form or on Section A of your Campaign 18 order form'

very strange - maybe i will try ordering on book 14 and see what happens!

right - i am on camp 14 now and have tried a couple of product numbers and i can't order them on 14.

guess they will have to stay in the box and hope i remember them on camp 17!!!!!!!
it's nice to be important but more important to be nice!! :kisses3:

next question: i have added credits to my account so i can send the stuff back with my next delivery. i usually pay for the last order just before i put my next one in (my sl suggested that) so....will my credits be added BEFORE i pay? or only after ive paid? i dont really want to pay the full amount for it to then be credited back onto avon. doesnt really help my finances that way lol x
