Hi girls...thanks for the post in reply and I kinda of know where you're coming from but I still think that the way it was explained to me in completely wrong!

I've just gone over to pick up 20 books for C15 and 20 books for C16. Like I said, she orginally told me to go round to each house and put a slip through the door asking if they wanted a brochure. Then when i collected them I could see who i needed to deliver the brochure too. On the projection sheet it said that I should have around 50 potential customers who would want to receive brochures and she made me (was quite pushy about it!) write down 50 names of friends and family to also give brochures to. Which makes 100 brochures in one campaign when I only got given 20. I obviously don't see all of my friends and family every week even so it would be impossible to even distribute to them all in one campaign with 20 books, let alone the houses!! When I just saw her know, she's done an about-turn and said that I need to deliver to 20 houses and then go back in 2 days and collect them and get the books back to deliver to the next 20 houses. Ok I say, so every single person will give me the book back then? erm no, she says, ok so i get say half the books back and then deliver to 10 houses and then get five back next time etc etc!! What a stupid system!!

If she'd have just explained this all to me then I wouldn't have minded buying some books to give myself a fighting chance of meeting targets. She's also just told me that i won't get the order i did last night until the 21st September which is after C15 has finished so the brochures will be out by then so i should have ordered C16 books grrrrrrrr!!! so i have 20 book for C15 and 10 x C14 for the next three weeks to try and circulate and get around to 150 people. Not necessarily very easy when you have three children and a life!

I really really don't mind putting a lot of work into Avon and would love to make some decent money from it, but I think that the way I want to do it for the first couple of campaigns would be to deliver all 100 houses once and then pick up once. Just so then everyone would have two books and I'd know who wanted anything. I haven't even had the chance to do that though and I'm pretty peeved about it as you can tell!!

    Sorry for the rant hehe

    xx

    Hi Bassi and welcome :j

We have all been there - trust us! ;) So we totally know how you are feeling, if you read back some of the pages of this very very long thread you will see the same questions and frustrations time and time again!

You are right that the system is not perfect or fair in some ways, but I promise you, once you get onto your 3rd campaign and you have purchased your own brochures - the exact number that you want, it will get easier. I think the reason for only 40 brochures over the first 2 campaigns is that the drop out rate for new reps is so extremely high that avon would lose sooo much money if they gave everyone 50 brochures per campaign to begin with, they already subsidise the brochure cost heavily anyway.

My advice to you, is to drop all your brochures into your first 20 homes, go back to collect them in the evening when people are more likely to be in, that way if they don't leave it outside you have a greater chance of getting it back, and like the SL said just keep dropping them every 2-3 days around your houses, and just get as many orders as you can, and the same with family and friends. Just focus on meeting your £78 target first, and if you reach that and you don't have time to keep dropping and collecting brochures then just stick to those orders and wait for the next campaign.

You could also ask your sales leader if she has any spare brochures for the campaign behind, are you on c14, if so you can use c13s as well as that makes the brochures go further. Also, in your next campaign you will be able to use the 20 c15s she gave you as well as any c14s you have left, which may help you get around the territory a little bit quicket, and by c16 you will have the brochures that you ordered in your first campaign, and then you are off....!

Sales leaders have different advice, you don't actually have to do what she says and put slips through the door, just drop the brochures and collect them, I didn't bother with knocking in advance or anything like that, wastes time!

If you are willing to pay for the brochures then ask your sales leader if you can buy some brochures from her, she should have lots in stock and she shouldn't be adverse to you buying them from her.

Another thing, where are you based? Maybe one of us on here can help, I am happy to give brochures to anyone who needs them, and have done so in the past as I am also a sales leader and we get brochures cheaper than reps.

Bassibabes - another thing, do you have your hello tomorrow magazines? You should have been given 2, if you are on c14 then you should have been given HT16 and 17 (they are 2 campaigns ahead). It's only 2 magazines but you can use them instead of the brochures to show to family and friends, tell them to pay the customer price, and put an order form in, that gives you 2 extra brochures to get potential orders, and they get the benefit of being ahead of everyone else and you will get 30% commission instead of 20%, just remind them they can only order 1 of anything. Thats what I do with my best friend and my mum, they always order from hello tomorrow.

I told my insurance company I worked from home for Avon, but he just checked if I would stock worth xx amount and I laughed and said I wish... so he said that's fine, it doesn't affect your premiums.

I have a separate bank account for avon, it is just a basic bank account, so I bank the money when I get paid by cusotmers, go home and pay online. That way avon money is not being spent on my bills, etc and is paid off to avon as I get it, no worrying at the last minute, I have to find xx amount, which is what I have done in the past. But Avon is my main job as I am also a mum, was full time, but because of tax credits can afford to send my DS to a childminder 3 days a week.

Bassi - I am happy to send you 10 c13 or c14 brochures in the post if you want? You only need to pay postage but that alone will cost £4.41, however thats only about 30p more than Avon would charge you for 10 brochures, so its your call. If you would like that just PM me your address.

  • why on earth have they sent out camp 17 clearance books with my camp 13 delivery when i only ordered books for camp 14:confused::confused::confused:????

now i have to put them somewhere and then when camp 17 arrives remember to use them.......
it's nice to be important but more important to be nice!! :kisses3:
  • Bassi, why dont you put one set of books out on Friday for pick up Sunday, and then on Sunday put the books you pick up back out for collection Friday?

It isn't ideal, as some people may be away for the weekend, but would give you more chance than only doing one drop per week

Set up a new hotmail.yahoo/gmail email account just for Avon and put that email address on your order forms so people can email you later with any orders. You could also direct them to the Avon website to choose their products and recomment they order through you to save the postage?

I personally wouldn't show the HT magazines as I don't want to be put under pressure to sell at the lower price, plus where you can only order 1 of each item, I would rather have the chance to order it myself if I wanted. JMO but it is up to you if you wanted to?

I joined through an ASM and got 40 books for both my first campaigns but like the others said, you will find your optimum number of brochures very soon for going forward

the clearance books are for C14 and 15 for normal reps, it is only trendsetter reps that would use them on their C17. hth
