Hiya - yes I imagine something important must have come up, us SL earn a small percentage of our teams sales....so it's very unusual for us to abandon people before they have even started! Potentially could be swine flu I suppose? Anyway - I give people the books for 2 days (now I have regulars I give them a bit longer but to start with just 2 days).......try and use re-sealable bags (freezer bags etc) as makes it much more likely that people will leave the books out for you......

as for the delivery dates - you will be able to find them online - log into your account....then from what I can remember (I'm at work at the moment lol) go to my account then I think there there is a list of order/delivery dates under that section....tells you for quite a few campaigns ahead which is good.....you can submit your order early without it affecting when you delivery arrives as it will always come on the set day.hth

  • Thanks for your reply :-)

My SL emailed me at 10.30 last night to say that she had been busy! No phone call, text or anything before then - even though I'd been in all night...she then said that she couldn't meet me anytime over the weekend so it would have to be sometime "next week"! I'm not very happy at all about that and have told her that I'm just gonna get on with it and may contact her if I get stuck but I've thought about it overnight and I'm going to email Avon and ask if I can have another SL who is more supportive and may live a bit closer.

I'll check the deliver dates and see what it says today.

Should I have got enough books to put one in each door then? I must say that's what I thought would happen but, like I said, she only gave me 20 and then said to put notes through the doors and then go and collect them and then deliver books to houses who said they wanted them?? Surely it's easiesr just to have enough books in the first place?? I've handed out about 10 so only have 10 left and have 25 coming for the next campaign so will still need to order more at my own expense when I think they should be free to start with til I find my feet?

I dunno :-( feeling a bit disheartened really :-( xx

Unfortunately once you have placed an order, you will remain in her team....the only way out of it is to leave for 8 camps I think it is and then rejoin! She may well have family problems etc that she doesn't want to burden you with.
I'll check the deliver dates and see what it says today.

Should I have got enough books to put one in each door then? nooo!!! we only get refunded for 40 books in total (so 20 for your 1st camp, 20 for your 2nd, which she will give you the next time she comes over) - think about it - otherwise when you started buying books yourself you would have to 100s of them and it would cost a fortune! You want to always use the minimum that means you can still get round all your territory. I must say that's what I thought would happen but, like I said, she only gave me 20 and then said to put notes through the doors and then go and collect them and then deliver books to houses who said they wanted them?? I started delivering a book to each house - you will learn who wants one and who doesn't as time goes on, they will either tell you or you won't get th ebook back! Just keep slowly working round your territory, you are able to use the current and the previous book at the same time...so hang onto the previous camps books and that will mean you have more books each time saving you having to buy as many. If you leave books for 2 days, then collect, re-package and re-deliver you can quick easily cover even a large territory within a campaign without a huge amount of books. The £15 admin fee goes directly to avon....we eventually get reimbursed a small amount for 40 books in total, and the appointment pack that she used to sign you up - but that is only after you have placed an order so quite often we end up out of pocket when people change their mind.

  • Help please! Last campaign I was sent 3 wrong colour nail varnishes. I asked for immediate replacements which arrived yesterday, but i can't find a returns form..........anyone know the procedure for sending back items already replaced?

You'd think I'd know my way round it after nearly 2 years:confused:

Have you tried looking under my orders, track my orders, your returns form should show up under there? Though having said that my oh once had his returns form disappear from online, didn't look as if he'd requested a replacment or anything so he had to ring up and check!

  • Thanks Lozza - it shows the replacement, but doesn't offer an invoice number or returns form.

I ended up ringing Avon - difficult to get my problem over  but they've said just do it with a print out of the order tracking page, attaching the barcode. What's the betting they say they haven't received it?

  • Hi girls...thanks for the post in reply and I kinda of know where you're coming from but I still think that the way it was explained to me in completely wrong!

I've just gone over to pick up 20 books for C15 and 20 books for C16. Like I said, she orginally told me to go round to each house and put a slip through the door asking if they wanted a brochure. Then when i collected them I could see who i needed to deliver the brochure too. On the projection sheet it said that I should have around 50 potential customers who would want to receive brochures and she made me (was quite pushy about it!) write down 50 names of friends and family to also give brochures to. Which makes 100 brochures in one campaign when I only got given 20. I obviously don't see all of my friends and family every week even so it would be impossible to even distribute to them all in one campaign with 20 books, let alone the houses!! When I just saw her know, she's done an about-turn and said that I need to deliver to 20 houses and then go back in 2 days and collect them and get the books back to deliver to the next 20 houses. Ok I say, so every single person will give me the book back then? erm no, she says, ok so i get say half the books back and then deliver to 10 houses and then get five back next time etc etc!! What a stupid system!!

If she'd have just explained this all to me then I wouldn't have minded buying some books to give myself a fighting chance of meeting targets. She's also just told me that i won't get the order i did last night until the 21st September which is after C15 has finished so the brochures will be out by then so i should have ordered C16 books grrrrrrrr!!! so i have 20 book for C15 and 10 x C14 for the next three weeks to try and circulate and get around to 150 people. Not necessarily very easy when you have three children and a life!

I really really don't mind putting a lot of work into Avon and would love to make some decent money from it, but I think that the way I want to do it for the first couple of campaigns would be to deliver all 100 houses once and then pick up once. Just so then everyone would have two books and I'd know who wanted anything. I haven't even had the chance to do that though and I'm pretty peeved about it as you can tell!!

    Sorry for the rant hehe

    xx

I work full-time, am also a SL, and as you say have a life......I now find I only need 80 books to cover both mine & oh territory which combined is about 500 houses.....I never used more than 100 at one time even when having to do all the houses when not knowing who would need a book...... just give it time, yes you want to cover all your houses as quickly as possible - but you have 3 weeks per campaign, so if you did them all at the beginning of it they would all be waiting ages for their products, if you can just do so many houses every couple of days then it does make it easier - it takes a long delivering & collecting in 100 books at once, as you will find you will have to knock on doors for quite a few (people like asking questions lol).

Granted she didn't explain it to you very well, but avon could not afford to provide a huge amount of books to every single rep that joined, as a surprising amount never even place an order, and quite a lot that do place an order never pay for it, so unfortunately they have to limit the number of books provided in order to keep costs down, as otherwise they would ultimately have to charge more for their products. For example - I've signed 5 people so far...one of those is oh though lol...so say 4 - one of those changed her mind 2 days before putting her order in so I was out of pocket for 40 books...and another rep never paid for her first order and so has gone to debt....you can see how unfortunately it isn't possible to take the risk on providing more books - especially when they provide the books for the first 2 campaigns they couldn't realistically give you 200 books in total, as a SL that would cost me £22 which is obviously a lot especially if they changed their mind!

Though I do think the 20 books per campaign isn't enough - but then there isn't much we can do about, I take the risk and give my reps more but it has cost me, especially when they never ordered.....there isn't many companies where you can join, and then if you don't place an order you don't owe them anything which is the case with avon. Mind you, they get round a lot of this risk, by making us SL foot the bill when reps change their mind lol!

Hi I am just starting out and have been lucky enough to take over an established area. Been let down recently by someone who took over for a few months from the lady that did it for years. Anyway I have handed out about 100 books and am taking them in next week to hand out next campaign as I will be away on holiday when it is due. 100 not all from previous manage to find about 15 of my own without canvassing for any more. I will do this after my holiday with the books from the previous campaign.
Anyway manager coming on Tuesday again to go over stuff and bring next campaign books. Will she be able to give me the books I require. I couldn't do with any less than 90. I live rural so I am not prepared to be continually going around collecting books. I also have 3 children who have various activities and a husband that works shifts so won't be at home to look after kids or pick up or collect them.
Am sure I will have loads of questions. Do most of you fill in order as you get them or as you go along. I have gathered in friends and those that are going away on holiday. Also can you get carrier bags as I have a few big orders that prob wouldn't fit in bags like slipper boots.
Thanks everyone have loved looking at all your hints and tips.
I have never met a calorie yet I didn't like!!
