I'm thinking of becoming a rep - but I'm just wondering, is there a way of checking if the area I live in is already saturated with other Avon reps? I don't want to sign up only to discover the area is already super covered!
Is it better to join up online or do it via a local rep? How could I go about finding a local rep?
Thanks!
Firstly - DON'T apply through the official website lol! If you do that (like I did) you will get signed up by the area manager - some of them can be great (as a sales leader I have to deal with them to get territory for my reps) BUT - my area manager is worse than useless lol. They are paid a salary, and don't earn anything from your sales - so once they have signed you up chances are you will hear very little from them, even if you email/ring them. Whereas, sales leader (like myself) - if they are good at least, earn a small percentage of their teams sales (doesn't affect your earnings though) so we have an incentive to help you! I'd suggest looking in your local paper, there is bound to be an advert in there! Ask them lots of questions that you already know the answer to from here to judge how good they are - like the cost of books etc - if they give you honest answers and not vague ones then you should be ok!
Unfortunately there is no way to know if the streets round you are available until you join - but, if you haven't had a book through for a while chances are your street is free and so therefore the ones around it. Even if not - if you drive then there is normally territory free somewhere nearby! Plus - you can sell to friends, family, work colleagues - anyone you know! Which is a good way of getting fairly steady sales without too much work - especially if you ask your family etc to show their neighbours/work colleagues for you that will expand your customer base even more. hthAvon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -

Hi Everyone!
Im new to forums & Ive spent the past week reading all your tips! Think my world revolves around Avon now!
I am a rep & started in C11 - £751 & C12 -£722! I have got a huge teritory though!
Just wanted a bit of advise if you could help me out, Please!
I want to leave brochure at the local Hairdressers & beauty salon, I was thinking of offering the Managers/staff 10% discount if they would leave the brochures out for customers - What do you think??? Has anyone had much success getting extra sales in this way?
Sorry for the long post!

Last camp I didn't do too well, as you can possibly see, but this time I'm on track and hoping for a good wee bit more. Took out about 50 c13 books today and taking 50 c12 books out tomorrow. I'm hoping for between 5-10 new customers with this. And rooting round, I've found loads of stuff I can't use or no one wants to return and so far I have £42 worth, which helps a bit. No point holding onto stuff that won't make me money
I'm expecting 4 or 5 orders from regular customers anyway, so thats good. I'm just determined to start actually making money, money I can see and doesn't go on demo products that don't encourage anyone to buy anything. I just get caught in going "ooh, thats nice, -everyone- will like that" when usually no one cares
How's everyone else doing? Hopefully well, considering the time of year0 -
Those saying about sales leaders advertising in local papers..My ASM actually advertises in our local paper!! I know because although she's shortened her name to sound more informal (and save costs probably).. i recognise her phone numbers!:rotfl:
So just beware its not neccessarily only ever independant sales leaders using this method!0 -

I'd just like to point out that I registered via the avon website and was signed by a sales leader 3 days later. She has been really helpful since day one, but when she was unavailable due to injury I contacted my asm and she got back to me the next day with more territory!!
From what i've read on this and similar other forums, there are good and bad sales leaders as well as good and bad asms, guess it's just pot luck as to whether you're lucky (like me!) or not!!0 -
Sometimes asm are really nice, and when they are training sl they will pass on leads to them to get them trained up! I just hate the fact that because I'm signed up with an asm the only person above her is avon itself lol, whereas if I had joined with a SL then at least I could complain to avon and they might do something, whereas they have never been interested at all when I've complained about my asm!
Bit sneaky that asm advertising in the paper!Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -
natalieshauna wrote: »Hi all,
I have just come across this thread and it is great!
I have been doing Avon for 3-4 years now, about 6 weeks ago I contacted my Sales Leader (via email) to say I would like to start doing Sales Leadership too, she replied a few weeks later to say that it was great news and to keep the following Thursday evening free for an appointment and she will be in touch, well 3 weeks have past and she hasnt got in contact, I have since tried emailing, her phone is always off and she doesnt reply to messages, I have actually found her reps in the past and helped her out quite a bit (I have heard she is a bit useless as getting back to ppl). I am so frustrated as I dont know what else I can do. I know she is still working and about as a rep friend who just started has seen/spoke to her.
Any ideas would be much appreciated, I am very confused by it all.
Thank you
Can you contact the ASM for your area and see if she can help? If you don't know who the ASM is pm me your postcode and I can find out for you.0
