Also, I am planning on offering a couple of incentives over my next few campaigns and just wanted to know which would be more appealing to ladies (maybe which you have tried)...

    - Spend £15/20 and receive 10% discount
    - Spend £15/20 and receive a free gift
    - Refer a friend and if they spend over £15/20 you receive 10% discount off your order
    - Refer a friend and if they spend over £15/20 you receive a free gift

Are people more responsive to a discount of their order or a free gift? If it was a discount, do you think it should be off of the same campaign or the following one to keep the orders coming?

I am not sure which total I should use £15 or £20 as orders that I have received over the first two campaigns vary widely.

What do you think? and in your experience what has prompted more orders?

    Thanks, Nicola.

Thank you Lozza for answering my question about the samples offer. I agree, not such a good offer as it first seems. I had missed the dotted lines! Wasn't looking closely enough. I too like the vanity bag full of samples. I like the bag, so the samples are a much welcome bonus!

An incentive which I am running is to say to everyone that if they show their book around to friends etc and get a total order of >£50, the person doing the sharing can choose products from the brochure up to 7.5% of the total orders for themselves. That way, I am more likely to hit the 25% commission, and there is a reward for people showing their books to others. Also a brochure product costs me 25% less so I am not even giving away 7.5% of my commission. I also think it might work that these people will be possible recruits when I go for SL status in the Autumn? If they have got a taste for it, they may prefer to keep all the commission for themselves?

Bearing in mind I am on my 2nd campaign, 3 people have asked to be included in this already so hopefully my orders will steadily rise.

    Hi all,

winsones - I offer 10% off their order for showing the book to others (ie. in their workplace) - only have 2 regular customers doing this. Offered a free gift on C10 with all orders over £15 and did really well. I think a free gift works well but you have to set a minimum - most of my customers only usually spend £5-10 so you have to judge it really.

hutch610 - it's frustrating isn't it? I have returns every campaign which my courier takes back for me. They are only credited once I've paid my total outstanding balance (usually the day before my next order gets placed) - coincidence? I know it means I have less to pay the next time, but so frustrating when you haven't physically got the money 'in hand'.

C13 going okay for me, considering I have to place my order a week early due to my hols. Picked up first lot of cats this morning and out of 31 only 6 people not in/not left books out and got 9 orders. Total just over £200 now.

Next lot of books going out tomorrow. Only 25 (because that's all I have) which means that 6 customers won't get a book this time. Not that fussed as that part of my territory is a busy bus route, so cat distributing and collecting is no problem on foot, but if they place a large order and I have to drive it's a headache.

Good luck everyone with your sales.

Mine show as a credit when order is done. Have 36 days to return and are sent back within a week of ordering. So still 30 days for them to sort. very frustrting.

  • HI

I normally take the my cost price of returns off the total to pay and then pay the rest. It normally works and the balance goes to zero before I pay the next one in. hth

The only problem is I forget to send the returns back and so have been recharged over £100 this time so am only making £20 this time when I should have earned over £100. My own fault of course.

Note to self 'always make sure you return the items you have asked credit for'

Hi, I've got a quick question. See if I'm returning products for credit, and I've already put in for a replacement, can I put both these things in the same box if I have both barcodes on the outside? (I'm assuming returning for credits requires a barcode as well)

Just use the same barcode and put items in one box , and get the driver to sign the receipts, thats what we do

I've already got a separate sheet with a different barcode for the other item though
