    Hi All,

I've just started with Avon and am busy distributing my catalogues. The lady who signed me up wasn't very imforative about the tax situation.

So I have a full time job already, and I assume I have to declare myself as self employed for this additional job. But I guess my question is does this mean the commission I earn disappears. I know i would pay tax some months later but I'mt just fearful that a tax bill will arrive on my mat that I haven't put anything away for. It's got me thinking will it be worth it?

    Thanks

Hiya I work full-time too. yes you do need to register as self-employed - but you will only pay tax on your earnings, so keep track of how much you spend on samples, books, gifts for customers, demo products (I personally am a little economical with the truth, anything I order from avon that isn't for a customer I put as a cost - even if it is for me, as the way I look at it it means if I have used something I can then recommend it to someone!), also if you buy freezer bags, print things off etc etc - so you can make your "profit" look at lot less lol!. Best bet is to ring the phone number for registering as self-employed, you will be able to apply for an exemption form to prevent you from paying national insurance again.

    Hi everyone,

Just to let you know that I have just placed my first avon order for campaigns 10 and 11. I was nervous I wouldn't get any orders, but i've got about £150 of orders, so I'm very pleased with that!

Thanks for all the tips everyone - it is much appreciated.

    Ali xx

Well don falady!! You reached HOV!!

Tigrisdea you've not done badly from what your sig says. I have been given a new road where about 18 are flats. I'm kinda lucky cos they have post boxes outside so I put them in and hope they put them out when I collect!!

This time yeah, but I've not managed to get any new customers this time to keep me going and that order includes an £82 order from my mum when she went a bit crazy. Won't be the case next time :( I'm worried ahead of time you see

Hi Everyone. Avon newbie here. A customer has asked if the free gift glimmersticks Eyeliner in C10 is "soft" or "hard". Could anyone help please?

I'd certainly say they're soft. They are the crayon type of pencil, but tell your customer to retract it after each use as the top is quite tight and can break the point as it comes off (spoken from bitter experience by a great Glimmersticks fan ;))

Trendsetter's are the early campaigns, I'm Campaign O so furthest thing away from a trendsetter :rotfl:

I can order from that book in C10 and backorder in C11, hope that helps xx
