so any recipts for bags etc we have to keep for our tax return?
how does that work when they have been brought on ebay? does that meant the money i paid to buy a trolley to carry my avon in i can use that as well ?
and what do you mean by stock costs?

Yes, just keep all your receipts for everything you pay for, if you buy them from ebay, keep the email receipt or paypal invoice, print it off. Yes you can also deduct the cost of the trolley to carry avon stuff.

The stock is each item that the customer purchases, as you are self employed you are purchasing the 'stock' from avon and selling it on for a higher price, the trade price that you get from avon is the stock costs.

I am afraid I don't know about tax credits as I don't have any of that.

do i need to tell tax credits im doing avon?

Hiya ring them to tell them, to be on the safe side as obviously they are linked with tax matters and plus if you tell them you only work a few hours a week on avon it shouldn't affect your tax credits (as far as I know).

When I told them they didn't even worry about putting it on the form until I was a sales leader which meant more hours and more money (tho not as much as I'd like!!)

RE: my other tax problem, ive just been going through my wage slips, p60 and letters from the tax office, and thought hang on this dont add up right. They have been taking £46 a month extra off me in tax to pay for what they said i owe them. Turns out they got it wrong and im due almost £400 back in tax which I will get some in a cheque for the last tax year and the rest in next months wages! wooooooooo

    Nice One Mousie :T

Sarah from Avon (I assume Head Office) just called to check how I'm getting on, told her about my problem paying online and it's been passed to the internet department to fix the broken link :D

Had an email from ASM yesterday advising me of a new street to canvass but the email was addressed to a different name  have emailed her back to check that it was destined for me but if I have no reply by tomorrow I'm just going to do it anyway, that way I can hopefully get more orders before submission on Monday.

Going to plan an Avon party for November so going to get started on that before I go back to work on Monday :T Busy Week! :D

  • I jsut got given another 4 streets to do, which I know will be much better than the ones I have, it's another 114 houses, so will be hard work.
And amazingly, after only getting 2 orders for my work, I told them my order had to be in tonight, and suddenly I have another 4!!!

my orders come from friends and family generally...
i just need a bit of encouragement i think, and also to put a bit more effort in.....

i would deff look at going door to door! I always hated the idea but now i love it. It gets me out of the house, ive met some lovely people, and im really enjoying doing it. I love selling the products and getting myself a bargain or 2 on the way with some freebies and cheaper stuff!
think of the extra money you could earn in time for christmas, buy yourself that extra special treat with the extra money youve earnt from it!

On a happy note, my friend said I can have the upstairs of his pub for free for my Avon party :j

  • Hi everyone, I've been reading this thread for a while now. Thanks for all the excellent tips.

I have a question. A new customer has asked me about a product she bought from a previous Avon rep last year. She wants the Advance Techniques Moisturising Anti Static Spray. I have looked for this product but it seems to be discontinued ( I have found it on Ebay and it says discontinued).

I was wondering if anyone knows when this product was discontinued? Or ( i know its unlikely!) if anyone has any they would be willing to sell?

    Thanks again.
