oooh i like the idea of popping a note through reminding the customers when delivery is and how much it will be etc
i might pinch that idea! it will save me carrying all my orders out and hoping everyone is in and has the money!
Ive just finished going through my orders and putting them in online, ive got loads of yellow dots
Ive put in the order with no name/address and im going to go door knocking!
I agree with what Kat says about people who have those little stickers on their doors saying no cold callers etc, i have 2 customers who have these stickers on their doors. I think it mostly applys to door to door salesmen etc.
I also think Im going to add onto my slip that goes in with the books for people to leave the books out even if they dont want to order. Im loosing a lot of bags because of people not leaving their books out!0 -
So do you have to pay for the books for every campaign?
Another question I have is do you have to register as self employed? I'm not really sure how it works. I'm going to ask the AM all this too when she comes round tomorrow!
Many thanks for your replies, they're greatly appreciated!
Yes you do have to buy your brochures each campaign, but you can save money by using them twice. That is really the only expenditure you have though, as well as the bags to put them in, avon doesn't charge you for order forms and similar admin items. The brochures are also very cheap, I also do phoenix and the brochures there are 35p each going down to 25p each if you purchase 100. Avon's are much cheaper, they average around 15p if you buy a about 40-50 of them. You pay £4.76 for the first 15 brochures (3 packs of 5) and then 48p each additional pack of 5 brochures.
You have to register as self employed within 3 months or you get a £100 fine. It only takes a minute to ring them, they then send you the forms each tax year or you fill it out online. It's good really coz it means you get to pay less tax or get a tax rebate on the items you have to pay for like the brochures, petrol costs, stock costs etc. I know a lot about tax because I have been self-employed for 3 years and have been on a tax cutting course with the HMRC. If you want me to go in more detail I am happy to.

er, i didnt know we had to register thingy to pay tax....im on my 4th camp now, will i get into trouble?
ive just been looking round the avon website, and theres a thing in with the presidents club bit saying associate......it says:
Status:
Sales to Date:
Next Level:
Campaigns remaining: 14 Campaign Sales to achieve: £392.07
what does that mean?0 -
Mousie, it means you have 14 more campaigns in which to achieve associate membership (ie you achieve PC sales in your first 18 campaighs but not the jan-dec year). You need to sell 392.07 per campaign (ar an average of that) to qualify.
Just did my pub party - bit disappointed, but was okay. Will tell all tomorrow, I'm so tired.
Also you need to register to pay tax within 3 months of starting - so you should be okay - you can write so much off against your tax you probably won't end up owing, but you should still register.0 -

Been out posting books tonight and someone has already put them out.
It is my area, i did it last campaign.
I called my ASM while i was out. It went to answer machine and still no answer from her yet.
She hasn't called me back since i have been signed up.
I have asked for more area instead of sl cast offs.
Rant over ................for now.
Arghh so annoying when this happens isn't it?! Exactly what I was saying in my previous post its not fair for reps just to go where they fancy as it can ruin someone elses round and its just not nice!
If someone did the area they may not have been assigned it as well as you, make sure you find ou their contact details form your customers and ring avon or tell your asm if they are helpful as they should sort it out for you! Good luck, hope it gets sorted or they give you a nice new area with lots of people desperate for avon lol x0 -
Left another 2 messages for asm, still no reply going to ring sl now see if she answers her calls.
It makes you feel why bother.0 -
so who do i need to ring about the tax thing? will i have to pay tax on my avon earnings? cos i work does that mean i will get like a big tax bill at the end of the financial year cos of avon?0
-
Update: My ASM just called me said sorry, gave me a proper area and is coming to see me on friday to talk about becoming a SL.
Any thoughts on this idea please..... Good or bad.0
