Avon Hints and Tips (Part 2)

I have been given the road i live on as a small area to try and canvass. I was thinking about putting together a 'introduction letter' with a little question at the bottom asking if they would / or wouldn't like to see a catalogue in the future. Has anyone done this and how do you find that people respond?

Also what kind of thing would you include in your intro letter - i was thining just a quick intro about me - maybe one or two lines eg name how long i have been a rep. Contact details them maybe picking out a few offers to highlight? Also what tone should i go for 'fun/friendly or something a bit more serious and professional?

Also I live in a block of new build flats and our letter boxes are on the outside walls so easy to put brochures in but not so easy to get them back. If i ask people to post them back through my letter box do you think that this is a bit cheeky ( there are only nine flats and all letter boxes are next to each other)

I'd love some opinions or possible other ideas?

Hi all, I'm new to MSE and Avon, just started my first campaign C6 and have to order by monday!!! got 40 books luckily but bout 200 houses, how is best to proceed? know that there has been issues here before with avon as no rep has continued past 1 or 2 campaigns so lots of mistrust!! I'v already got 30 books out in territory and 8 to family/friends, am collecting these in on thurs and hope 2 get the straight back out then in again Sat. Does this sound possible?? x x

Hi Everyone

How is everyone doing? Well got my order yesterday. My very kind neighbour took it in again but she was worried as there was supposed to be 12 boxes and there was only 8 and one of the boxes was opened. I said don't worry I will check if everything is there. And guess what, I couldn't believe it was all there apart from a couple of things which were sold out but I knew about those as checked online the night before delivery.

Anyway all apart from 4 are delivered and paid for. Also got 60 books out for collection on Friday. So doing really well I think. If only every camp could go like this.

Even the woman that messed me about last time paid me first knock tonight so won't have to go chasing her again lol. I did text her and asked if it would be ok to deliver tonight and she actually txt me bk saying yes that would be fine. So really pleased. :j

My AM phoned me tonight as well saying how pleased she was with my progress.

Anyway really tired now and gotta get up for work in the morning.

Welcome to this board.

Sounds like a good idea and yes it is possible. Don't worry if you don't manage all 200 houses this time as you can do them next time with more books. Also you can have half on one campaign and half on the current one, which is what I do.

As for the mistrust I also have part of my territory who have been messed about by another rep so am having to build up their trust. All you can do is keep on putting books through and they will eventually realise that you are in it for the long haul. Pick up the books when you say and deliver the orders when you say and they will start trusting you. You just gotta be patient.

Checked my target last night, and it's £250 so pretty sure I can get to that. Delivering most of my orders tonight, a few people have rung to say what time they will be in, so hopefully most of them will be about & can get them delivered - they take up a lot of room at home lol!

OH delivered books yesterday to new & old territory for collecting tomorrow, we've been taking bets on how many people will order from the new territory lol!

my courier is normally here between 8-9am
you will be able to judge once your first couple of orders come,
they don't give a specific time though :rolleyes:

I am about to start my 3rd camp and I just have a couple of questions for you more experianced reps.

1) How many times did you drop brochures to every house, even those who didn't order? Or do you still? Do you ever only drop to those who have previosly ordered?

2) How often do you re-canvess your entire area?Every 3 or 4 camps?

3) My main sales have been from Make-up, any ideas on how to boost sales on purfumes? or any other products.

4) Do you do offers every camp? Like spend £20 get a free gift? Or do you do it every other or 1 in every 5?

In answer to your questions:

1) Always drop unless I've been asked not to, or if my sixth sense tells me that the house is a non-starter. I've had first orders after a year, so never give up.

2) Um.....not as often as I should, probably. Get around to it once or twice a year!

3) No! If you think of anything, let me know

4) Not necessarily. I try to vary what I do to keep people interested. I'll do a separate post with ideas for offers etc.

What does everyone do with unused order forms? I can't use them for the next campaign because they are already highlighted and have the campaign number on them, but it seems such a waste. Also I asked for more territory, but was told that she wants to see me putting in higher orders before she will give me any, but the reason I want more is to put in higher orders! What should I do?
