Lol only as cheeky as me - OH car had to be repaired (again!) yesterday, £400!!! Which we don't have, had to put on credit card - but his Gran and my Mum each gave us £200 bless them! Definately giving them some extra bits in their orders!:D

  • We've got to put the cooker on the credit card so cant use it for carpets. The joys of moving house but at least we can settle down now.
  • Hi all. Been having a toot at all of the posts, excuse the user I.D. its my O.H's! Hope your all well. I am new to Avon... only got signed up on Monday, so have been looking at the tips, seeing what ways I can get plenty orders. I've posted 30 books through doors, and i'm due to pick them up tomorrow and get them posted back out again! I've received 3 of my friends and family books back so far, and i'm over the moon, from the 3 books, i've got £68.50! I enclosed a note in with my books, and asked that customers leave them out for me to collect, so i'm just wondering now, how many will actually leave them out!?! I'm going to go in the morning tomorrow, to collect any that are outside, and then at night with my O.H for any that aren't there!
Anyone have any good tips for me?
    Thanks.. xxxxxxx

I also didn't knock on any doors, just posted them through the doors - and so far I haven't lost many at all! There was a few that I had to post a note through saying "I called to collect, I will come back tomorrow, could you put it outside even if you are not ordering, thank you", and even then I had to go back once or twice to knock on the doors to get them back. A lot of those hadn't been looked at - but I got them back, and know not to leave them a book again as obviously they aren't interested and would just be wasting my time!

I suppose it does depend on your area though! There's only been one person so far who has binned the book, poor OH went in the snow to collect, and the bloke had a go saying we should know that he doesn't want Avon (presumably he told a previous rep, or we are meant to be mind readers lol!). But, we know not to bother with him again!

What I'd suggest is, once you've done a street and know which houses you should get the books back from - keep those houses on your "new" books, and then another additional streets you get, give them the "old" ones, and then at least if you loose any it doesn't matter as much because they haven't got as long to be used in any case!

Good luck with Avon, I'm loving it :D

I've been out to collect some more books but not a single person had left one out and everyone seemed to be out for the night as well. From 30 books I've got 4 orders worth £28, not a very good start. I'm starting to wonder if this is worth doing.....?

Don't give up so easily! Maybe they just forgot to put the books out, easily done, especially if they aren't used to receiving Avon books (or betterware or kleeneze).

Probably a daft question, and I apologise for asking it - but was it obvious without having to open the books/bag which day you were collecting? Some people aren't very observant!!!

Woohoo - I am now an Avon rep :j .

Can't wait to get started. My SL is lovely and has left me 100 books and I am starting on C5. I've only got until 4th March to get my first order in though. Lucky that I've got tomorrow and Friday off!! She also gave me a couple of freebies which was nice of her.

I've got 196 houses in my territory and it is nicely split into 5 roads so doing half of them in this first order and then half afterwards will be fine. I will do as many as I can over tomorrow and friday and then collect on Monday and Tuesday I think so it gives them 4 days to look. I would leave it longer but at least it's over the weekend and gives me the chance to go back on Tuesday/Wednesday to get any that people may have forgotten to leave out.

Will show the book to my mum and sister tomorrow (who don't know that I've started doing this again yet!) so hopefully will get some instant orders there.

Right, better get cracking :D .

Oh I'm just feeling a little disheartened thats all Lozza as I had a late night in the office today due to a big project for the MD and didnt I get to leave until nearly 6pm then remembered I had to go out after.

There is the potential for another 5 orders plus I have another 26 houses to canvass this Friday evening once I get more C4 books tomorrow night so fingers crossed there.

I'm going to leave a book in the kitchen at work in the morning plus give one to the cleaner. I've also given my OH an errand tomorrow to try the street I had no joy with this evening, I really want to make something of this, my Mum did and I saw how happy it made her.

Good luck Emily, how I wish I could have more territory, I only have 50 houses as this is a small town and already has a couple of Avon reps.
